Sometimes the impact of a program Urban Champions Academy is felt before it can ever be measured. ❤️

On Labor Day, our Champions FC Student Leadership Council gathered at Grimaldi’s. Before the meeting began, the students reached for one another’s hands, offered a prayer of blessing, and broke bread together.

Then they found their voices.

They led. They listened. They challenged one another. They spoke about the Champions they want to become — in Mind, Body, Soul and Legacy — and the culture they want to build for those coming behind them.

The photos that follow capture only moments of that growth and camaraderie. The deeper story is unfolding inside each young person.

That evening, one student shared that Champions FC had helped her become a more confident public speaker. I then learned that she’s THE ONE who had been selected by her school and Superintendent to serve on a student panel in Boston this October — the same panel I will be participating on.

In that moment, it all came full circle.

Give a young person a place to belong.
Give them a circle where they are heard.
Give them permission to lead.

And then watch how far their voice can travel.

These are San Antonio’s young people — bright, hungry, and still discovering the power already inside them.

Champions FC doesn’t simply ask students to find their voice. We listen when they use it.

Champions are built with Purpose. ❤️
