🛰️The first U.S. satellite dedicated to continuous space weather monitoring, NOAA’s Space weather Observations at L1 to Advance Readiness – 1, or SOLAR-1 (previously SWFO-1), has entered operational service, offering improved space weather warnings to help protect critical infrastructure. SwRI developed two of the four instruments aboard, the Solar Wind Plasma Sensor (SWiPS) and the Space Weather Follow-On Magnetometer (SWFO-MAG).
