We have FOURTEEN members wanting to attend the SSA National Student Leader Conference this summer, July 17-19, 2025. (That's TWICE as many as last year!) Help us get to the conference in Cincinnati, OH by donating so we can pay for travel expenses.

Last year our chapter was awarded the very prestigious honor of Chapter of the Year 2024 for our work on the "Voice Your Choice" Initiative. In roughly a single year we provided well over 22,000 condoms and 2,800 boxes of Plan B for FREE to the students on the UTSA campus and attended multiple reproductive justice and bodily autonomy fairs during 2024 and 2025 including the San Antonio Pride Festival 2024.

The Secular Student Alliance National Leadership Conference is the largest gathering of secular students in the country. For students and the entire secular community, this unique conference experience blends amazing speakers, grassroots organizing, and leadership enrichment, providing a unique opportunity to network with other students, develop leadership skills, and strengthen secular values. Our SSA chapter has been invited to speak at the Austin Chapter of the Freedom From Religion Foundation on Saturday, Feb 15 at 12:30pm at the Little Walnut Austin Public Library. Several of our officers will be speaking about our efforts to support reproductive rights and how that is related to advocacy for separation of church and state and why it's meaningful to support your local community in this way.

Anyone who wants to go can attend to watch the presentation and meet the members of the Austin FFRF chapter.

SSA at UTSA Itinerary:
9am Meet in front of the Convocation Center Parking Lot so we can carpool up there together.
10am Stop at Buckee's for snacks and gas
11:30 to 12pm Arrive at the Little Walnut Austin Public Library to set up and get ready for the presentation
12:30pm Presentation
1:30pm Mingle and Meet the FFRF members then go out to lunch
We should be back in San Antonio by 5pm

Everyone Else: If you will be in Austin already on Saturday, Feb 15 you can go straight to the Little Walnut Austin Public library at 12:30pm

Chapter meeting on Thursday, February 13 at 5:30pm in the Mesquite Room 2.01.24, 2nd floor Student Union Building (above Panda Express, take the elevator up next to the microwaves and the Mesquite Room is directly in front of you)

Last week our topic was "The Oligarchical Kleptocracy & You" we talked about the state of our government and touched on how that might affect secular values and what we do as an organization.

This week the topic is "Oppression Thrives in Complacency" we will expand on our plan of action to resist oppression, protect and support our community and educate the public on what's at stake and why we cannot allow ourselves to fall into complacency.

Stay after to talk, mingle and play games. We have the room until 8:30pm

Howdy everyone! We are proud to help host the reproductive justice resource fair at UTSA for the semester with our partners .utsa *xed !

The fair will be distributing free reproductive resources like Plan B, Julie, condoms, l**e, etc. We also plan on having interactive activities like tote bag coloring, button making, period packing, etc.

Come out to this event to get free viral resource, learn more about these organizations, the services they provide, and how we can take action to promote reproductive justice together in San Antonio!

Come by to show your support for bodily autonomy and reproductive rights, get some free contraceptives, buttons and stickers!

What can you do to "Voice your Choice" to help prevent the further erosion of your right to bodily autonomy?
Register and VOTE in both local and presidential elections for candidates that will respect and enforce your reproductive rights. Check to see if you are registered, change your information, register to vote, find polling locations and key election dates at VoteTexas.gov Register by October 7, 2024 to vote in the election on November 5. If you are already registered, check to make sure that's still true. Texas purged the voter rolls of over 1.1 million people. Make sure you have a valid government-issued photo ID when you go to vote, don't give them any reason to deny you your rights.

"All Out for Repro" Rights Fair Tuesday, October 8 from 11am to 3pm in the Sombrilla. Sponsored by , dozens of student groups and local organizations who believe in reproductive rights will be there. Secular Student Alliance will have a design-your-own button station where you can make a button to let everyone know how you feel.

Science Rising: Countering Disinformation
Date: Tuesday, August 20
Time: 7:00-8:30 p.m. ET
American Atheists has partnered with Science Rising to conduct this special train the trainer event on countering disinformation. This interactive workshop will cover best practices for countering disinformation, how to develop counter-narratives, pitfalls to avoid when engaging with audiences around disinformation, and how to talk about the role that we can play in countering disinformation.

Working together with YDSA and Texas Rising to promote safe s*x and bodily autonomy Tuesday thru Thursday this week. We gave away lots of free condoms and PlanB emergency contraceptive as well as free prochoice and LGBTQ supportive stickers and buttons. We will resume giving away free condoms and planB after spring break, every Thursday from 12 to 4pm in Central Plaza.
