On the ground in Taiwan, elevating San Antonio’s global reach.

We’re in Taiwan this week as part of a broader Asia mission, joining City of San Antonio - Municipal Government Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones and regional industry partners to engage directly with companies exploring U.S. expansion.

San Antonio has a compelling story, and we’re here to tell it.

Our region is among the fastest growing large metros in the country, with sustained gains in population, job creation, and investment. San Antonio added roughly 524,000 residents over the past decade, with more than 700,000 additional people projected by 2040. That growth is supported by a labor force that expanded by nearly 250,000 over the past decade, alongside regional colleges and universities graduating about 30,000 students annually—giving manufacturing, technology, and life sciences employers confidence they can build and scale teams locally. This same key industries, advanced manufacturing, cyber & IT, and life sciences and healthcare, are all on the rise, with employment expected to grow by approximately 13%, 10%, and 10% respectively over the next five years.

This trip is about translating momentum into investment. We’re engaging with companies making real‑time decisions about where to grow next and making a clear case for San Antonio as a market that offers workforce readiness, infrastructure capacity, and strong regional alignment for long‑term success.

We’re grateful to Mayor Jones for leading the delegation and to Councilwoman Misty Spears for her engagement in strengthening San Antonio’s global relationships. We’re also proud to work alongside partners like Port San Antonio, UTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, and BioMedSA—reflecting the coordinated, cross‑sector effort behind this work.

We’ll continue telling the region’s story, building global relationships, and driving opportunities that convert into jobs, investment, and growth for our San Antonio region.

This week, our greater:SATX team had the opportunity to tour Toyota Texas’ new rear axle plant during a preview day, marking an exciting milestone for one of our region’s largest and most impactful manufacturers.

In June 2024, Toyota Motor North America announced a $531M investment in Toyota Texas to bring truck/SUV rear axle assembly to a new unit plant on campus. Once fully operational, the new facility will employ more than 400 San Antonians and produce a target of 500,000 rear axles annually. The new hires will grow the total Toyota Texas workforce to more than 4,000 employees.

Toyota’s continued investment in San Antonio strengthens our position as a national leader in advanced manufacturing and reinforces the company’s deep-rooted commitment to the people, talent, and future of our region. A special thank you to Frank Voss, Group Vice President, Region 4, Toyota Motor North America and President, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, and valued greater:SATX Executive Committee member, for his leadership and partnership in helping shape a competitive San Antonio regional economy.

We’re proud that Toyota calls San Antonio home and grateful to the many partners who make our region a premier destination for global manufacturing.

We’re recruiting employers across Bexar County to participate in Job Shadow Week 2026 this February—helping strengthen San Antonio’s talent pipeline.

In partnership with Junior Achievement of South Texas, we’re dedicating a full week to connecting students with real workplaces, where they can see your industry up close: the work, the skills, the teams, and the career paths behind it all.

These experiences create real momentum. We’ve seen Job Shadow Days spark a journey from a day on site, to a summer internship, and in some cases, to full-time roles with the same employer after graduation.

50 Years of Impact

As we celebrate 50 years of greater:SATX, we’re honoring our investors, past board chairs, and regional leaders who have helped shape the San Antonio economy. It’s a moment to recognize how far we’ve come together and to keep building as OneSATX.

Fifty years ago, a group of business executives led by General Robert McDermott created what was then the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation with a simple idea: recruit new employers, create quality jobs, and provide paths to economic mobility. That vision took root — and it’s still at the core of our work today.

Since 2021 alone, our regional partnership has helped bring nearly 20,000 new jobs and more than $7.5 billion in capital investment to Greater San Antonio, strengthening our workforce, our employers, and our communities. At our recent 50th anniversary celebration, we unveiled MOMENTUM:2030, our next five-year regional economic development plan that will guide our work into the next decade and will help accelerate our impact for generations to come.

Thank you to our event presenting sponsor USAA, and lead sponsor Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas for making our 50th celebration possible.

Cheers to 50! 🥂

San Antonio is stepping into a new chapter of growth.

Bexar County voters approved Propositions A and B, choosing a generational placemaking investment that keeps our region competitive, helps us attract and retain talent, and grows shared prosperity. It’s a clear vote of confidence in where we’re headed.

Now we move forward—together—to build an urban core that works for everyone, where opportunity belongs to everyone.

We were proud to stand with San Antonio Spurs Chairman Peter J. Holt, Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai, Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones, Councilwoman Marina Alderete Gavito, San Antonio City Council District 7, and Councilwoman Sukh Kaur to chart the path ahead and bring this vision to life.

The next generation is choosing where to live based on quality of life — not just job offers.

Projects like the Sports & Entertainment District help make San Antonio a region that competes for both talent and opportunity.
