Blue Bird Auxiliary

We serve four facilities: Methodist Hospital, Methodist Children's Hospital, Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital and Methodist Texsan Hospital.

Membership open to anyone ages 14 and up interested in giving freely of themselves to help alleviate the suffering of mankind by performing their duties willingly with love and compassion. In cooperation with the board of trustees, medical staff and administration of the Methodist Hospitals, Medical Center, and the Blue Bird Auxiliary shall continue the endeavors of “Serving Humanity to Honor God.”

If you miss the Blue Birds in action, we have a few working now! Last week, I put the call out for volunteers to help with special projects. Thirty one faithful Blue Birds answered right away that they were thrilled to get back to helping for the weeks ahead. This is a safe job answering phones. It is so good to see them again! 🐦

We had a special visit today from our therapy dog, Bonnie. It wasn't the same seeing her in the valet parking area but it's been such a long time since we've pet this cutie we didn't mind. Happy Therapy Dog Day!

Check this video out. Our CEO, Dan Miller made a special trip to see what our super Sewing Committee has been working on while they are staying safe at home. Led by Lynelle Stigent, she and her crew have been working hard to make a special contribution to front line staff at our Methodist Hospitals. 💘

Good morning from home, Blue Birds! 🐦This is a great service being offered by H-E-B and Favor. Please don't feel brave and head to the store, no matter what hour in the day. Every hour is too crowded for my special people. Call me and I will help you set this up on your phone. Also, I love 👍🏻 that there is also a phone number to call for items. We miss you!

Lots of events this week were happening with our Blue Birds! We had two awesome recruitment opportunities at Specialty and Transplant Hospital and Metropolitan Hospital. Our success is in part to our loyal Blue Birds who passed out cookies, pamphlets and gave personal accounts about being volunteers. Two orientations are planned for February so we can onboard our new recruits.

We finished the week at the Omni at our General Meeting with our guest speaker, Jaime Wesolowski. He is the CEO of Methodist Healthcare Ministries and a long time supporter of the Blue Birds. It was a record turnout!

This just popped up in my feed! 🌟 Fellow volunteers from Methodist Stone Oak Hospital posing with their fearless, wonderful leader, Herb Looney. Looks like they won Department of the Month. 🏆 We are certain it was well deserved. Volunteers are always #1!
