We are proud to welcome Dr. Mike Witt to Operation Homefront’s national Board of Directors! With more than 28 years of leadership experience, Dr. Witt currently serves as Chief Environment, Quality & Safety Officer for Northrop Grumman Corporation.

His leadership, strategic vision and dedication to giving back will help strengthen our efforts to build strong, stable and secure military and veteran families.

Backpacks, school supply kits, and more were given to many military kids in Delaware and New Jersey! Each event also gave out gift cards to help with additional needs. 🎒✏️

Being able to send our military children back to school, confident and prepared, is both heartwarming and necessary. We thank our community partners for recognizing the importance of supporting our military and veteran families at every stage of life. 🤗

Another successful Operation Homefront Back-to-School Brigade® event is in the books at Los Angeles Air Force Base!

More than 100 military children received backpacks filled with school supplies, a gift card to help with additional school needs, and plenty of encouragement as they get ready for the new school year. 📚

This year’s event was about more than preparing for the classroom. Children had the chance to reflect on their summer experiences, while parents wrote heartfelt lunchbox letters for their children to discover throughout the school year. These special moments helped families create meaningful connections while reminding military children that they are supported, encouraged and loved.

A huge thank you to our incredible community partners who helped make this event possible including Northrop Grumman, Military OneSource, Operation Child Care Project, and United Through Reading. It truly takes a community working together to support our military families. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success and gave these children an extra boost of confidence as they head into a new school year!

500 military and veteran children. One incredible community coming together to support them. On July 18, Operation Homefront’s Back-to-School Brigade® brought families together in Colorado Springs for a day filled with school supplies, smiles and fun.

Thank you to Walmart for hosting and sponsoring this event again in 2026, and to every in-kind donor, community partner and volunteer group who helped make the day possible. A special thank you to VIP 2026 Space Force MCOY Taylor Schreiner for volunteering and sharing information about our Military Child of the Year® program.

More than 400 military children in San Diego will start the school year prepared and confident! 💪

Earlier this month, we hosted our Back-to-School Brigade®event, drive-through style. Here, every child received a backpack filled with school supplies, a gift card, a backpack tag to decorate at home, an encouraging bookmark, and lunchbox notes for parents to write special messages throughout the school year. 🎒🖌️💌

A huge thank you to Northrop Grumman Corporation for providing the essentials, United Through Reading for providing books to inspire a lifelong love of reading, and to Girl Scouts San Diego for handing out fun goodies that made the day even more special. 🤗

As military families in Anchorage, Alaska prepare for a new school year, Operation Homefront's Back-to-School Brigade® is helping ensure they have the tools they need to start strong. 🎒

Recently, we welcomed 200 military-connected children and their families to an unforgettable event where each child received a backpack filled with essential school supplies.

This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, Global Credit Union and Walmart, Dollar Tree, and our lead education partner, SNHU.

We're also grateful to our community partners for joining us in serving those who serve including Girl Scouts of the USA, American Red Cross, YMCA of Alaska, Military OneSource, United Through Reading, and Frito-Lay. Together, we're helping military children head back to school with confidence and reminding military families that their communities stand beside them every step of the way!

It's closer than you think... 👀

Word on the street is that our Military Child of the Year® Award nominations are opening soon. So, it's time to start thinking of the impressive young people who have made a positive impact on their military families, their schools, and their communities.

Our annual awards recognize outstanding people ages 13 to 18. Recipients will represent a branch of the armed forces — the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Space Force — for their scholarship, volunteerism, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and other criteria while facing the challenges of military family life.

These are just a few things featured at our Back-to-School Brigade® event in Las Vegas!

Aside from all the supplies given to families, we also enjoyed our supply swap table featuring donations collected through our annual Dollar Tree school supply drive, a coloring station hosted by Mrs. Clark County 2026, backpack decorating at our shrinkydink and beaded keychain activity tables, temporary tattoos, bookmark decorating, and a photo booth. 🎨🖍️📷

Oh, and our families also received a special visit from Spruce and Aviator of the Las Vegas Aviators. 😎

A special shout-out to our lead education partner Southern New Hampshire University and other partners, Dollar Tree, United Through Reading, and Red Rock Golf Classic and the Raiders Foundation.
