Alzafar Provost Guard competed in the TSPGA Mid-Winter pistol competition in Wichita Falls yesterday. The two teams and open competitors did well. The B team consisting of Rick Corbin, Billy Paul, Tony Ivone and Dan Dailey took 2nd place. Our C team consisting of Steve Aikens, Tom Hirte, Greg Gillenwaters and Marshal Mike Gollahon took 1st place.

The match was hosted by Alzafar using Maskat Shrine's range. Thanks to Maskat Provost Guard and the Maskat cooking team and our ladies for the range, dinner and hospitality room.

Alzafar Provost Guard sent several shooters to the Imperial Provost Guard pistol competition in Reno, Nevada. Unlike our Texas competitions, Imperial sets the teams with mixed members. Tony Ivone was on the 2nd place team and Steve Aikens was on the 3rd place team. Ken Propes took 1st place in 2 handed shooting. Congratulations to all.

Alzafar Shrine Provost Guard shooters came home from the Texas Shrine Association Ceremonial with 2nd place in the B division and Tom Hirte came home with 1st place in the open division. We competed against Shrine Temples from all over Texas. Congratulations to all!

Last night Alzafar Shrine Provost Guard held our annual Christmas Party and installation of officers. Michael Raymond and Marina did a fabulous job on the decorations, music and food. Our new line of officers was installed with Michael taking over as Provost Marshal. We had a special visit by Illustrious Rick Reyes III, Chief Raban Marco Zuniga, OG David Olivares, Illustrious Robert Norman II, Texas State Provost Guard Association Marshal Billy Paul and their Ladies

Misty and I want to thank all of the Nobles and Ladies for your support over the last year.

Another great pistol shoot today at Blackhawk Range, hosted by Alzafar Provost Guard. We came home with medals for 3rd place C team and 2nd place B team. My thanks to everyone who worked hard to make this event a success!

Shriner story of the day! A group of 8 Shriners and Ladies at dinner at Olive Garden for the Guadalupe Shrine club monthly meeting. Our waitress sees our logo shirts and wondered if we were the same Shriners she saw on TV this week. Her daughter has cleft palate and lip and no insurance. Our High Priest and Prophet will be making a call to our Galveston hospital tomorrow to get her evaluated for treatment. It doesn't get any better than this!

Great day at Alzafar Shrine yesterday. During our August ceremonial, Alzafar Provost Guard set up a table to talk about our unit and recruit new members. Our conversations with members resulted in three new prospects and one member returning after a few years away. We look forward to welcoming all to our unit!

The IASP competition results are in. With a twist. There were Nobles competing from six Temples in the 22lr competition, with Alzafar fielding 5 shooters.

As there were not enough shooters to form full teams from each Temple, IASP created three teams with shooters from multiple Temples on each team along with a couple of individual open and 2 hand shooters.

Teams were put together by averaging shooter scores from past meets and trying to evenly distribute them to have all three teams with as equal ability as possible. They did a great job as there were only 8 points separating 1st place from 3rd place.

Alzafar Shrine Provost Guard competing at the Imperial Shrine Provost Guard competition in Charlotte NC. Not only did we shoot our normal 22 caliber pistols, but also competed in mixed caliber center fire match. Alzafar was well represented with 5 of the 15 shooters from all over the US and one Noble from the Philippines.

Scores will be posted later today.
