***UPDATE*** Not the update that we wanted. 😭 We were so hopeful yesterday evening when she ate some Farmers Dog food and seemed more aware. Thin Mint passed away this morning and no matter how heartbreaking it is for us, she was not alone and she was warm and loved. All of our will and prayers could not get her past the decline she had already suffered. We all wanted the best life possible for her and maybe she is in a better place now.

We received an message to help a Dane that was picked up as a stray outside of Hondo a week ago today. Little did I know exactly what we were in for when we met for the handoff. She was thin in the picture that we were sent, she was barely alive when we got her. She was beyond the scope of care her finders could give. We received her on Tuesday this past week and we headed straight to the vet. We waited to post her because truthfully I didn't think she was going to make it.
The vet ran barium and xrays and no blockage was found. Her bloodwork shows she is severely anemic and she has been on fluids. There is no medical reason why she is in this condition. We are just fight the fight of starvation now.
We received a call this afternoon from the vet to come pick her up for the weekend since no one was going to be at the clinic to keep an eye in her. They stocked us up with meds, fluids and feeding instructions. Getting her to eat anything has definitely been a battle. The will to live is there or she would have passed already. Now we just have to convince her that she needs to eat something, anything so that we can help her win this battle. This is definitely one of the most heartbreaking cases we have had in a while.
