Students headed back to school looking their best thanks to JT Brackenridge’s 4th Annual Back-to-School Resource Fair!

CIS-SA Site Coordinator Alejandra partnered with an incredible network of community organizations and local partners, including Community First Health Plans, Texas Care LLC, Respite Care of San Antonio, Inc., Restore Education, San Antonio Food Bank, Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc., and many more, to connect families with valuable resources and support before the new school year.

One of the event highlights? Six volunteer barbers and hair stylists provided FREE haircuts for students, helping them start the school year feeling confident and ready to learn!

A huge thank you to all of our community partners and volunteers who came together to make this event a success. When we work together, we help students and families thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Our Site Coordinators, Julia and Alisa at Southwest High School, kicked off the school year with its 4th annual Teacher Supply Giveaway!

This event gives educators the opportunity to pick up classroom supplies before students return, helping them start the year prepared and ready for success. Along the way, teachers also learned more about CIS-SA services and the support available to students and staff throughout the school year.

We love finding ways to support the incredible educators who pour so much into their students every day. Here's to starting the school year strong, together!

Somerset ISD hosted its 5th Annual Back-to-School Resource Fair and helped local families get ready for a successful school year! For the third year, CIS-SA Site Coordinators Laura and Kimberly organized and facilitated a gently used clothing closet, giving families the opportunity to shop for back-to-school clothing at no cost.

The clothing closet remains one of the most anticipated resources at the fair, with many families and community members sharing how much it helps ease the financial pressure of preparing for the new school year.

This year, we were proud to serve 520 community members, ensuring students headed back to class with confidence and the clothing they need to thrive.

Last year, H-E-B customers helped raise more than $643,000 for students across Texas, supporting 122,283 students through Communities In Schools. That generosity reached 27 CIS affiliates, 1,360 campuses, and 196 districts.

You can help make an impact this year, too! Through August 25, customers can donate any amount to the H-E-B Back-to-School Supply Drive while shopping in-store, online, or through curbside pickup. Simply add your donation at the register or select a donation amount at checkout when placing your online or curbside order.

Every dollar donated benefits CIS-SA, helping provide local K-12 students with the supplies and support they need to start the school year ready to succeed. When communities come together, students thrive. Thank you, H-E-B

Tuesdays with Taylor is back and happening at Cable Elementary School in Northside ISD for the next 9 weeks!

Our CIS-SA Site Coordinator, Valeria, is partnering with KENS 5 & Kens5.com Bill Taylor to bring students fun and engaging announcements every Tuesday, featuring meteorology, student-submitted jokes, answers to student questions, and highlights of the exciting things happening around Cable ES.

Beyond the fun, Bill is helping reinforce an important message: being present matters. Regular attendance helps students stay engaged, build connections, and make the most of every learning opportunity. To encourage strong attendance, the class with the highest attendance during the first nine weeks of school will earn the opportunity to take a field trip to the KENS 5 News station!

We’re excited to see our Cable Cubs show up, stay engaged, stay driven, and make every day count!

The path to student success begins with having the essentials. Whether it’s school supplies, hygiene products, backpacks, or classroom necessities, every item helps students arrive on day one ready to focus, learn, and grow.

The H-E-B Back-to-School Supply Drive is in full swing, giving you an opportunity to support students and families in your community. From now through August 25, customers shopping in-store, online, or through curbside at H-E-B locations across Texas can donate any amount at checkout. In-store shoppers can add a donation at the register, while online and curbside customers can donate when placing their order.

We are deeply honored and grateful to the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SAHCC) for the nomination of Communities In Schools of San Antonio (CIS-SA) as a Community Anchor in the nonprofit category.

For 40 years, CIS-SA has worked alongside students, families, schools, and community partners to ensure that every young person has the support they need to stay in school and achieve in life. This nomination is a testament to the collective efforts of our dedicated staff, volunteers, donors, educators, and champions who make this mission possible every day.

This school year, our theme is Every Connection Counts, a reminder that student success is never achieved alone. Every caring adult, supportive partner, dedicated educator, donor, volunteer, and advocate plays a vital role in helping young people overcome challenges, realize their potential, and thrive. The strength of our work is rooted in the strength of our community.

Because of YOU, thousands of students across our community will head back to school with the supplies they need to succeed.

A heartfelt thank you to every volunteer, donor, and partner who made Stuff the Bus Day such an incredible success. Every backpack filled, every notebook donated, and every box of crayons collected is a reminder to a child that their community believes in them.

Today, staff representing 116 CIS-SA campuses, 7 charter networks, and 5 special programs, along with 10 nonprofit partners, picked up supplies to get them into the hands of students and families who need them most.
