Southside Baptist Church

Southside Baptist Church Where religion ends and a relationship begins. We love to praise and worship our Lord and it is felt in everything we do. You will feel welcomed.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the only basis for any statement of our faith. We band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind. Who We Are

We are a group of baptized believers that are so full of excitement that you will feel the minute you s

tep inside the sanctuary. We worship however we feel comfortable, if it's raising your hands or clapping your hands, it's welcomed. What kind of church is this? Southside Baptist Church (SSBC) is a Southern Baptist church. SSBC has a local group of deacons who provide direction and oversight for the church. We have no hierarchy or any other religious body that influences what happens at SSBC. Our goal is to live as Christians following the teaching of Christ found in the Bible. Our church congregation is a very active, multi-generational group of people who have a growing love for the Lord and for others. Is children's programming provided? Yes, a loving and safe children's programming is provided at SSBC. Our kids ministry is the ideal spot for infants through sixth graders. Children's classes at SSBC are exciting, interactive, and age-appropriate. Will my child be safe? We know that as a parent you need to be sure that your children are in a SAFE learning environment. And we know that your children are looking for a FUN place to learn. We’ve invested a lot to make sure that both of these goals are reached. All caregivers have gone through background checks and are members of the church. You can leave your children in a warm, loving environment during any service including the Sunday school hour. We care deeply about your peace of mind. In our infants through 3 years, we have an up to date paging system to notify you if your presence is needed in the nursery. You will be issued a pager when you drop off you child/children. What about my teenager?

7th through 12th grade students enjoy classes, activities and special events that age related. The discussions and teaching help students deal with the many pressures they face and guide them toward healthy choices. How do I become a member? The only requirements for membership at SSBC are that you have a personal relationship with Jesus, and that you have celebrated that relationship by means of baptism by immersion. At SSBC, membership involves more than simply getting your name on a list. We ask that all members participate in spiritual growth opportunities beyond weekend services, regularly serve in a ministry, and financially support the Lord’s work at SSBC. For more information, please contact the church office (210.626.2110). What is baptism and how is it conducted during worship services? Baptism is simply God's way of allowing us to show that we believe in what Jesus did for us on the cross and that we're trusting in Him alone to save us from the penalty of our sins. Baptism by immersion illustrates Christ's burial and resurrection, and it identifies us as having received a new life. Each weekend worship service at SSBC is concluded with an invitation to become a Christ-follower. If you come forward during this time, a pastor will talk to you about your decision (to become a Christ-follower and/or be baptized). If you are ready, we can make immediate arrangements for your baptism. The water is warm and robes, towels, and changing rooms are always ready. Or, if you prefer, you can set a future date to be baptized. What is The Lord's Supper or Communion and how is it viewed at SSBC? Communion is the memorial Jesus gave to remind us of the price He paid - He gave His life - for our sins. While there is no mandate in Scripture for how often to take communion, we believe that frequent observance lessens the significance, so we partake quarterly. Lord's Supper is another term used for communion. Anyone who is a follower of Christ is invited to participate. What are the musical styles of SSBC worship services? Each worship service includes heartfelt music that will draw you close to God. The best way to describe our worship music is Spirit filled. We blend contemporary Christian music with heart felt traditional songs and everyone is blessed.

BREAK OUT.

This beautiful song, sung by Sister Linda, is such a powerful reminder of 2 Corinthians 10:4–6 and the battles we sometimes fight in our minds.

The thoughts we accept can either become our ceiling or push us toward our purpose.

Break out of limiting beliefs.
Break out of fear.
Break out of negative thinking.
Break out of the pressure to have everything figured out.
Break out of “this is how it’s always been done.”

Whether you're leading a team, building a business, serving your community, raising a family, or pursuing your next opportunity, growth starts with how we think.

Protect your peace. Give yourself permission to reset. Be intentional about what you allow to consume your thoughts.

Sometimes the breakthrough isn't a change in circumstances.

It's a change in perspective.

Take every thought captive. Challenge what is holding you back. And keep moving forward in faith.

Don't let yesterday's thinking limit tomorrow's purpose.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

Sometimes we don’t see the fruit right away. Sometimes doing the right thing feels hard, unnoticed, or even tiring.

But God calls us to keep going.

Keep serving.
Keep loving.
Keep praying.
Keep doing good.

Don’t give up. God is still working. 🙏❤️

There is no greater joy than seeing our children take the love of Christ beyond the four walls of the church. ❤️🙏

This week, Adonai is headed to Mexico to serve alongside his aunt during Vacation Bible School (VBS)! 🎉 We are so proud of his willingness to share God's love with other children and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Please join us in praying for Adonai, his aunt, the volunteers, and every child who will hear the Gospel this week. May God use this VBS to change lives and draw many hearts to Him. Safe travels and God bless! 🇲🇽✨

💙🏕️ Camp Week is Here for ! 🏕️💙

This week, our younger campers headed off for an exciting adventure at camp! For several of them, this is their very first camp experience, and we couldn't be more excited to see all that God has in store.

We are praying for safe travels, new friendships, lots of fun, and hearts that grow closer to Jesus each day. May this be a week filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments as they experience God's love in a special way.

¡Vamos, ! 💙 Que Dios los cuide, los llene de alegría y haga de esta una semana inolvidable.

Please join us in praying for our campers, leaders, and staff throughout the week.

🏕️❤️ Home Safe! ❤️🏕️

Our campers are safely home after an unforgettable week filled with fun, fellowship, lots of rain, and countless memories!

While the weather may have been wet, God's goodness shined through every moment. We pray the friendships made, lessons learned, and time spent growing closer to Jesus will continue to impact each student's life long after camp has ended.

¡Gracias a Dios por un viaje seguro! Oramos que las semillas sembradas esta semana den fruto y que nuestros jóvenes sigan caminando cada día más cerca de Cristo.

God is good... all the time! 🙌

🛠️ Church Work Day – This Saturday! 🛠️

Many hands make light work! Join us this Saturday from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM as we work together to care for the grounds and facilities the Lord has entrusted to us.

We especially need help with trimming and cleanup. If you have a chainsaw, please bring it (along with any other yard tools you don't mind using).

Whether you can stay for an hour or the whole morning, your time and willingness to serve are a blessing. Let's come together in fellowship as we care for God's house and prepare it to continue serving our community.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord." – Colossians 3:23
