🧡 Thank you to and United Way of San Antonio and Bexar for welcoming YWCA San Antonio to the United Way employee meeting at Cavender headquarters.

Our CEO, Francesca Rattray, shared YWCA’s work supporting women and families in our community. United Way’s giving campaign helps fund local nonprofits like ours, turning employee generosity into community impact. We’re grateful to everyone who participated and contributed.

Continuing our Persimmon Circle series, YWCA San Antonio is proud to spotlight the extraordinary leaders who fuel our mission. Today, we sit down with Kathy Mays to discuss life, joy, and community impact.

Q: What do you love to do in your free time?

A: "I love being in nature. Whether I’m at the ranch, near the water, or simply outside enjoying the beauty around me, nature is where I feel most peaceful and grounded."

Q: What is your favorite San Antonio dining spot?

A: "I love Italian food, and Paesano's has always been a favorite. It’s comfortable, familiar, and a place that holds lots of wonderful memories."

Q: You are expecting your first grandchild—what are you most looking forward to?

A: "What am I not looking forward to?! I’m excited about absolutely everything—watching this precious child grow, experiencing the world through her eyes, creating traditions and memories together, and, of course, having the joy of loving and spoiling her in the way only a grandmother can."

Q: The first board you ever served on was YWCA SA. What drew you to the mission?

A: "I believe deeply in helping young women recognize their potential and giving them the encouragement, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive. I love that the YWCA helps women build stronger lives for themselves, their families, and ultimately our entire community."
