The founder of KFC, Colonel Harland Sanders, was also a Rotarian! He was an active member of the Shelbyville Rotary Club.

Itโ€™s a reminder that Rotary members come from all walks of life: entrepreneurs, community leaders, and changemakers united by a passion for service.

๐ŸŽ‰โš™๏ธ A New Rotary Year is about to Begin in District 5840! โš™๏ธ๐ŸŽ‰

What a wonderful evening celebrating the installation of our new District Governor, Bobby Martinez, along with the incoming District leadership team!

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Strawberry Pines in the countryside of Poteet, Rotarians from across the district gathered to celebrate leadership, fellowship, and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead in the new Rotary year.

Investing in young leaders through Interact, Rotaract, youth programs, leadership development, and service opportunities is one of the most meaningful ways we can build a stronger future. We look forward to working alongside clubs throughout the district to empower the next generation of changemakers.

The evening was filled with great fellowship, reconnecting with friends old and new, enjoying an energetic performance by the Beatlemania 64 band, and cheering on the San Antonio Spurs as we watched the game together.

Congratulations to District Governor Bobby Martinez and the entire District 5840 leadership team. It was a great season working with DG Craig Hardy. He shared a few words as he past the baton forward. Hereโ€™s to a year of service, growth, leadership, and making a lasting impact in our communities and around the world.

This Memorial Day, the Rotary Club of Alamo Ranch pauses to honor and remember the courageous service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Their selflessness and dedication embody the spirit of โ€œService Above Selfโ€ and inspire us to continue serving our communities with compassion and purpose.

We remember. We honor. We are grateful.

Wishing you and your loved ones a meaningful Memorial Day.

Saturday morning, D5840 District leadership and members gathered at American Legion Post 179 for a meaningful Peace Pole installation ceremony focused on unity, hope, and global understanding.

Peace Poles are internationally recognized symbols of peace that display the message โ€œMay Peace Prevail on Earthโ€ in multiple languages. First introduced in Japan following World War II, the movement has grown to include more than 250,000 Peace Poles placed around the world at schools, parks, places of worship, memorials, and community gathering spaces. These monuments serve as daily reminders of our shared responsibility to promote compassion, respect, and peaceful dialogue.

We were honored to have representatives from our Rotary District present as we joined together in fellowship and service to dedicate this Peace Pole at American Legion Post 179. The installation reflects Rotaryโ€™s ongoing commitment to peacebuilding, conflict prevention, cultural understanding, and strengthening our local and global communities.

In a world that can often feel divided, even small acts and visible symbols of peace can inspire powerful conversations and meaningful change. ๐ŸŒŽ

๐Ÿšจ What does it mean to serve in the one of the most challenging conditions on Earth?

At the Rotary District 5840 Conference, we heard a powerful and humbling story from JC Clapsaddle, a Service Above Self award recipient whose work is saving lives in the Ukrainian war zone.

From delivering critical supplies to coordinating medical transport for those in urgent need, his efforts are a true testament to courage, compassion, and action when it matters most.

This wasnโ€™t just a story it was a call to reflect:
How far are we willing to go to serve others?

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’› Inspired doesnโ€™t even begin to describe it.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Follow along as we share more moments from an unforgettable weekend and discover how you can be part of service that makes a global impact.

Leadership in Action | Lifelong Learning in Motion

Leaders from various Rotary Clubs across District 5840 recently attended the Rotary Leadership Institute at Northwest Vista Community College this past Saturday and what an incredible experience it was!

This wasnโ€™t just a training. It was a powerful reminder that great leaders are lifelong learners. We came together to refresh our skills, exchange ideas, and learn from one anotherโ€™s experiences. From strengthening strategic plans to exploring innovative approaches in organizational operations, we dove into the nuts and bolts of impactful leadership covering international projects, public relations, and more.

๐Ÿ’ก Leadership Nugget: The best leaders donโ€™t have all the answers. They stay curious, ask better questions, and continuously grow. Growth isnโ€™t a destination; itโ€™s a commitment.

We left inspired, equipped, and even more energized to elevate our club and better serve our community. Because when leaders grow, communities thrive. ๐ŸŒฑ

A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding facilitators for Part III of the RLI Series: Christina Howard, Ken Donoghue, Karen Mirabeau, Kathy Hubbard, and Arden Riley for pouring into us and guiding meaningful conversations that will ripple far beyond the classroom.

It was a fabulous time!
