American Latino Museum recognizes Phi Iota Alpha 83 anniversary!!!

Did you know the Latino Greek-lettered organization movement has roots that go as far back as the late 19th century?

Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the oldest Latino fraternity, was founded on December 26, 1931 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in upstate New York. Today marks the 83rd anniversary of the Fraternity. Since its inception, when the Union Hispano Americana (first Latino student organization at a U.S. college campus) was first organized in 1898, the fraternity based its foundation on Pan-Americanism, the “unification of all the Latin American nations and all Latin American people”.

Since 1931, Phi Iota Alpha cultivated Latino men nationwide to become leaders of their communities across Latin America and the United States. Open to all men, this distinguished brotherhood includes many professionals and former presidents of Latin American countries.

Today Phi Iota Alpha continues to lead as the preeminent Latino fraternal organization with over 70 chapters throughout the nation. Since 2010, Phi Iota Alpha has partnered with UNICEF, raising more than $49,000 for UNICEF USA via several initiatives including: Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, the Tap Project and the Latin American and Caribbean region fund.
