Consider this, when donating to the local charitable chapters of the Down Syndrome Association, San Antonio Food Bank, Alzheimer's Association, The Rib Foundation, American Cancer Society, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, American Diabetes Association, Cancer Research, Oblate Madonna Residence, Mujeres Unidas, Inc., the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, Los Sembradores de San Antonio, the homeles
s and others, even helping a high school senior (scholarship recipient) participate in her dream prom by providing her dress, shoes, make-over, transportation, dinner (out of our own pockets), helping families pay funeral expenses, medical bills and Care Link Ins. premiums, we fulfill serving our community. But, it all comes with conditions set by the Federal, State, County and Municipal Governments Laws and Ordinances. We meet those restrictions with legal and professional accounting safeguards. Our focus, to the community, is to maintain or improve our commitment to the needy. Since we became a 501(c)3 organization (1999), we have been able to assist individuals and/or organizations in need and provide scholarships to deserving Hispanic students, either in a partnership with a national organization or individually (granting scholarships terminated with the introduction of our endowment program). In 2008, we began an endowed scholarship fund with The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). It maximized the potential of providing and continuing more opportunities to incoming Hispanic San Antonio freshmen. This decision guaranteed the continuance of financial aid even if we cease to exist. We are proud, grateful and eager to continue this relationship with UTSA. I applaud and convey my sincere appreciation to the membership for adhering to their sense of duty and compassion and to our many (some long-standing) supporters for "Helping us Help Others."
