Thank you GMA when you shared our story nationally! We will continue to share our story every single day. Breast cancer doesn’t only affect women. Men can get breast cancer, too.

Knowing the signs and understanding your risk could help you or someone you love catch it earlier. Talk about changes you notice, encourage the men in your life to pay attention to their bodies, and remember: awareness can save a life.

Men can get breast cancer. The fact that it is less common does not make it less important.

During Men’s Breast Cancer Awareness Week, help us challenge the idea that breast cancer is only a women’s health issue. Men can face breast cancer themselves, and hereditary cancer risk can affect entire families.

Know the signs. Know your family history. Talk to your doctor about changes that concern you, and consider whether genetic counseling or testing may be appropriate based on your personal or family history.

When we stop overlooking men, we create more opportunities for awareness, earlier conversations, and potentially life-saving action.

We need to talk about male breast cancer.

Because when we don’t talk about it, too many men don’t know they can be at risk.

Breast cancer can affect men, yet male breast cancer remains widely misunderstood and often overlooked. Awareness can help men recognize changes, understand their family history, know their hereditary risk, and feel empowered to speak up when something doesn’t feel right.

Talking about male breast cancer isn’t just about raising awareness. It’s about making sure men know they are not alone, their health matters, and their voices deserve to be heard.

Start the conversation. Share the information. Spread the awareness.

Because breast cancer awareness is for everyone.

Mental health is part of the cancer conversation too.

A cancer diagnosis can affect far more than the body. It can impact relationships, identity, work, family responsibilities, and emotional well-being. For men, the pressure to stay strong or keep difficult feelings to themselves can make it even harder to ask for support.

On World Mental Health Day, check in with the men in your life and ask how they are really doing.

And remember, hereditary cancer can affect an entire family. Knowing your genetic and family history can lead to important conversations about health, risk, and support.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply start the conversation.

Breast cancer can affect men, too. Take a few minutes to become familiar with how your chest normally looks and feels, and talk to a healthcare professional if you notice something unusual, such as a lump, swelling, skin changes, or a change in your ni**le.

Self-breast exams save lives. Ask co-founder Harvey Singer; when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his ni**le, he knew he had to get it professionally checked.

Men should pay attention to changes in the breast or chest area, including a new lump or swelling, changes in the ni**le, ni**le discharge, skin changes, or a change in the size or shape of the breast.

There is no standard screening mammogram recommendation for men at average risk, so knowing your body and speaking with your healthcare provider about unusual changes is especially important.
