State Department to host International Visiting Leaders in San Antonio. We build international friendships, counter foreign disinformation campaigns, and champion US-style democracy all while strengthening our local economy and promoting San Antonio as an International City.

SACIV recently hosted law enforcement professionals from eight countries through the IVLP program, "U.S. Leadership in Law Enforcement." Visitors from Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, Nigeria, Spain, Thailand, and Ukraine met with local leaders to discuss transparency and accountability in law enforcement.

During their time in San Antonio, the group explored collaborations among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, as well as community organizations. Delegates met with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), Southwest Texas Fusion Center (SWTFC), San Antonio Police Officers' Association (SAPOA), and the FBI San Antonio Field Office. Through these exchanges, participants gained valuable insights, built meaningful connections, and laid the groundwork for future partnerships.

Additionally, the group volunteered at the 4th Annual First Responder Ruck Race, organized by the 100 Club of San Antonio, which honors the fallen first responders of Bexar County.

Leaders from the Middle East and North Africa recently visited San Antonio, Uvalde, and San Marcos through the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to examine U.S. approaches to counterterrorism, violence prevention, mass casualty incident response, and community resilience.

In San Antonio, delegates met with NXT LEVEL Youth Opportunity Center and St. Mary’s University Warrior Defense Project to discuss youth outreach, violence prevention, and policy development. In San Marcos, the group visited the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University to learn about nationally recognized active shooter response training and emergency coordination strategies.

In Uvalde, delegates met with the Uvalde Police Department, Team Uvalde, city leadership, and public safety officials to discuss the Guardian Initiative and ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, rebuild community trust, improve interagency coordination, and enhance emergency response capabilities following the tragic events at Robb Elementary School in 2022.

In late March, we welcomed three experts from India participating in the IVLP project, “Combating Drug Trafficking!” 🇺🇸🇮🇳

During their time in San Antonio, the delegates explored key topics including narcoterrorism, crime prevention strategies, interagency coordination, and efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks. They connected with partners at the San Antonio International Airport, San Antonio Police Department, South Texas High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Training Center, Southwest Texas Fusion Center (SWTFC), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), engaging in thoughtful discussions and knowledge exchange.

This visit highlighted the importance of international collaboration in addressing transnational crime and strengthening crime prevention efforts. SACIV extends its thanks to all who contributed to a meaningful and productive exchange.
