Please join us at our meeting tonight at 5:00. This item will be on our agenda.
Dear NEISD Community and Employees,
As I communicated in my Superintendent message, the Long-Range Efficiency Committee, comprised of parents, community members and staff, has completed its work. I brought forward that committee’s recommendations at last night's board meeting. I encourage you to watch the entire presentation by clicking here.

The Long-Range Efficiency Committee has spent several months looking at the data from our recent facility assessment, the District budget, costs per student, enrollment, capacity, and other factors. The overwhelming consensus from the committee was that campus consolidation is necessary.
I take our responsibility to our children and community seriously. And while this is a difficult process, we must be good stewards of our taxpayer money. We, like other school districts across the state, have been losing enrollment, and have seen no increase in revenue since 2019. Consequently, some of our campuses are not being fully utilized and are inefficient.
For the 2025-2026 school year, three campuses have been identified to be consolidated into other campuses.
Wilshire Elementary School
Clear Spring Elementary School
Driscoll Middle School
In February, I will bring specific consolidation scenarios to the Board of Trustees for review and action. The plan will include students being relocated to other schools within our District and our staff being placed in positions at other locations as well. In the coming months, we will hold community and campus meetings to hear from impacted families and staff.
I hope you know that we value all our school communities, and this recommendation is not being made lightly. We pledge to be transparent and open with you every step of the way.
In the meantime, if you have questions, please submit them at neisd.net/campus-consolidation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sean Maika
Superintendent of Schools
