The San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP) creates college opportunities, access, and success for our community.

SAEP is a pillar organization in creating a “college-going culture” in San Antonio and providing the key services for all students. For over 35 years, San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP) has been committed to increasing educational attainment by providing free college advising to San Antonio youth and adults in their pursuit of higher education. Our services are aimed at helping students acce

ss and attend college, and successfully attain a degree or credential. These free services are available at local partner high schools and through cafécollege, a one-stop shop for all things college, centrally located in downtown San Antonio and supported by the City of San Antonio. Additionally, each year, SAEP awards $2.1 million in scholarships to over 3,000 local college students. Beyond financial assistance, scholarship recipients receive ongoing support toward college persistence and degree completion. To date, SAEP Scholars have earned more than 19,000 degrees and credentials. We firmly believe that credential attainment is more than just a pathway to personal success, it is a catalyst for a brighter future for San Antonio.

Nearly 3,000 San Antonio college students are counting on SAEP scholarship support this school year.
That funding is now at risk.
As part of the City of San Antonio’s FY27 budget process, $2.1 million in funding for San Antonio Education Partnership scholarships could be eliminated.
These are current and incoming college students who have already made enrollment, financial, and academic decisions with the expectation that this support would be available for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
Nothing has been decided yet.
The City’s budget process will continue over the next several weeks before City Council votes on September 17.
We understand the City is facing difficult budget decisions. We also believe students who are already counting on this support should not have their plans disrupted while a longer term funding solution is considered.
Our ask is simple: Keep SAEP scholarship funding intact for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
