The San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP) creates college opportunities, access, and success for our community.

SAEP is a pillar organization in creating a “college-going culture” in San Antonio and providing the key services for all students. For over 35 years, San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP) has been committed to increasing educational attainment by providing free college advising to San Antonio youth and adults in their pursuit of higher education. Our services are aimed at helping students access and attend college, and successfully attain a degree or credential. These free services are available at local partner high schools and through cafécollege, a one-stop shop for all things college, centrally located in downtown San Antonio and supported by the City of San Antonio. Additionally, each year, SAEP awards $2.1 million in scholarships to over 3,000 local college students. Beyond financial assistance, scholarship recipients receive ongoing support toward college persistence and degree completion. To date, SAEP Scholars have earned more than 19,000 degrees and credentials. We firmly believe that credential attainment is more than just a pathway to personal success, it is a catalyst for a brighter future for San Antonio.

At yesterday’s breakfast, former San Antonio Mayors Henry Cisneros and Ed Garza shared why supporting college access, SAEP Scholarships and cafécollege matters—not just for students, but for our entire community.

For 37 years, SAEP has helped San Antonio students see what’s possible and take the next step toward college and career success.
We’re grateful for their leadership, their voices and their continued belief in San Antonio students.

Now, we need your voice. Please contact Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones and your San Antonio City Councilmember and ask them to support continued City funding for SAEP Scholarships and cafécollege.
Together, we can help ensure San Antonio students have the advising, resources and support they need to reach their goals.

City funding for SAEP is more than a line in a budget. It’s an investment in San Antonio students and their futures.

It means students have access to college advising in their high schools. It means scholars have financial support as they pursue their degrees. And it means thousands of students have someone helping them plan for what comes next.

These numbers represent real students, real goals, and real opportunities.

Help us continue investing in what’s possible for San Antonio students.

Sometimes, a student doesn’t need someone to have all the answers. They just need someone to help them see what’s possible.

That’s the role SAEP Advisors play every day in local high schools. They listen, answer questions, provide guidance, and help students see a path forward that they may not have seen for themselves.

One conversation. One trusted advisor. One student who decides to give college a shot.

That’s the impact of college access advising.

There’s a lot that happens between “I want to go to college” and actually getting there.

Setting goals. Exploring options. Applying to college. Figuring out how to pay for it. Enrolling. Preparing for what comes next.

SAEP Advisors help students navigate all of it.

Through High School-Based Services, students have access to college advising right on their high school campuses, helping make the path to college a little easier to navigate.

That’s what investing in college access looks like.

Nearly 3,000 San Antonio college students are counting on SAEP scholarship support this school year.
That funding is now at risk.
As part of the City of San Antonio’s FY27 budget process, $2.1 million in funding for San Antonio Education Partnership scholarships could be eliminated.
These are current and incoming college students who have already made enrollment, financial, and academic decisions with the expectation that this support would be available for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
Nothing has been decided yet.
The City’s budget process will continue over the next several weeks before City Council votes on September 17.
We understand the City is facing difficult budget decisions. We also believe students who are already counting on this support should not have their plans disrupted while a longer term funding solution is considered.
Our ask is simple: Keep SAEP scholarship funding intact for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
There is still time to make your voice heard.
