Anticipating its seventh season in 2016, Beth-El Food and Fun is held five days a week for eight weeks of the SAISD summer break, attracting scores of children from Temple Beth-El's neighborhood and others whose parents work nearby or attend San Antonio College, which is adjacent to the Temple. "Beth-El Food and Fun" is a collaborative effort of the Temple in partnership with the San Antonio Food

Bank. The Food Bank's summer feeding program, supported by a USDA grant, wasn't attracting kids to come just for meals. Temple Beth-El understands that, and knew that in the process of fun activities in a “Summer Day Camp” setting, they could feed children who normally receive free breakfasts and lunches during the school year.
