Bringing Healthy Work Environments to the Bedside 💙
The San Antonio AACN Chapter continues to advance AACN’s Healthy Work Environment (HWE) standards across our local nursing community.
Over the past year, our chapter has partnered with hospitals across the San Antonio area to provide HWE education and support teams as they work toward nursing excellence. Plans are underway to expand these efforts by adding additional clinical partners in the year ahead.
This work is driven by chapter leaders and volunteers committed to advancing AACN’s mission at the bedside. One of those leaders, chapter officer Annierose Abogadie, has led recent educational sessions.
Annierose recently presented “Establishing & Sustaining Healthy Work Environments: A Journey to Excellence” and introduced the AACN Beacon Award for Excellence to the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit (PIMU) at University Health, with 24 pediatric team members participating both in person and virtually.
The session encouraged discussion of key HWE principles: skilled communication, true collaboration, effective decision-making, appropriate staffing, meaningful recognition, and authentic leadership, as well as their application in daily practice.
She will continue this work with upcoming sessions in the PICU on August 27, followed by sessions in the Pediatric Acute Care Unit, as part of ongoing chapter outreach and education.
This year’s theme in action:
Every Voice. Every Story. Every Table.
By bringing HWE education directly to nursing teams across hospitals, we create opportunities for nurses to share experiences, strengthen their voices, learn from one another, and improve care environments for both staff and patients.
We are proud of the San Antonio AACN Chapter leadership team and members for building partnerships across institutions and for supporting environments where nurses and excellence can thrive.
