Gabriella's Smile Foundation

Gabriella's Smile Foundation Gabriella's Smile exists to improve the lives of children battling cancer and their families.

Gabriella's Smile Foundation was CREATED in honor of our beautiful six-year-old daughter Gabriella Elise, who so courageously and bravely fought DIPG, an inoperable brain stem tumor, for almost eight months. She smiled every single day and never once complained about having a brain tumor. The incredible support from our family, local community, church, and other DIPG families and foundations, help

ed us through the difficult journey that began on March 17, 2015, and ended too soon on November 7, 2015. It was this support that inspired our family to establish a foundation to help other families affected by DIPG and pediatric brain cancer. It is often said that no one fights cancer alone and we believe that families are stronger together. We believe it is this support that helps make us and other families STRONGER than DIPG.

We are so grateful to be in a position to help families through their most difficult times. 💛

To date, we’ve supported over 200 families through our Financial Assistance Grant Program, reaching DIPG and pediatric cancer families right here in San Antonio and across the country.

Since opening our Children’s Cancer Support Center in 2022, more than 85 families have received direct support through our local programs and we have In addition, our hospital support program touches the lives of over 2,500 children each year — delivering backpacks, toys, gift cards, blankets, and, most importantly, smiles.

Through our programs, services and events, our incredible community has dedicated over 10,000 volunteer hours to serving families affected by childhood cancer.

But more than the numbers, it’s the sense of community that truly defines this work. Families aren’t just receiving help — they’re finding each other. 💛

In honor of Gabriella’s legacy, we invite you to donate $16 this month to continue bringing comfort, hope, and smiles to families affected by cancer.

She wanted to become a boss when she grew up ❤️

Gabriella Torres was a bright, joyful, and courageous little girl whose smile could light up any room. In 2015, at just five years old, Gabriella was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) — a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer that primarily affects children.

Throughout her journey, Gabriella faced every challenge with incredible strength, faith, and grace. She inspired everyone around her with her kindness, laughter, and compassion. Even in the hardest moments, she reminded her family and friends to smile and be grateful for every day.

Experiencing the struggles of childhood cancer firsthand, Gabriella’s family was moved to honor her legacy by helping others walking a similar path. From that love and vision, Gabriella’s Smile Foundation was born — a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families affected by pediatric cancer through financial assistance, emotional support, and community programs.

Gabriella gained her angel wings on November 7, 2015, but her light continues to shine through every act of kindness the foundation shares. Her story is a lasting reminder that one child’s smile can spark hope, inspire compassion, and change lives.

🌟 Donate $16 this month to honor Gabriella’s legacy and help children and their families affected by cancer. Every gift helps bring hope, comfort, and smiles to those who need it most.

Our Story

THE FOUNDATION

Gabriella's Smile Foundation was CREATED on March 30, 2016, in honor of our beautiful, six year-old daughter, Gabriella Elise. Gabriella so very courageously and bravely fought DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), an inoperable brain stem tumor, for almost eight months. She smiled every single day, never once complaining about the difficulty and pain brought by her condition.

The incredible support from our family, local community, and church, along with other DIPG families and foundations, helped us through the difficult journey that began on March 17, 2015, and ended far too soon on November 7, 2015. It was this support that inspired our family to establish our foundation to assist other families in need. Our reach extends not only to families of children with pediatric brain cancer here in San Antonio, Texas, but also to families affected by DIPG across the United States. It is often said that no one fights cancer alone, and we wholeheartedly believe that families are stronger when working together in this fight. We believe it is this support that helps make us— and all families— STRONGER than DIPG, and STRONGER than any cancer.

The foundation was established through CharitySmith in 2016, through a memorial fund. As of March, 2018, Gabriella's Smile Foundation has been officially approved as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation (EIN 82-4804148) in accordance with federal tax law. Donations made to our foundation are tax deductible. The foundation has been 100% volunteer run since it’s founding in 2016 with no paid employees at this time.
