What if chasing happiness is the very thing keeping us from it?

God’s blessings can only live in God’s kingdom. If we really want joy and fulfillment in life, it actually works the opposite way. We don’t pursue our own happiness. We pursue the kingdom and all of its righteousness. Jesus said that when we do, all these things will be added to us (Matthew 6:33).

It doesn’t happen in our own personal kingdoms. It happens because He invites us into His. And His kingdom always has joy, always has fulfillment, always has blessings.

We exist to live in God’s blessing. 🙌

We are a people of the Kingdom of God who engage in compassionate ministry.

Yesterday we closed out our Everyday Hope series in Luke 4 — Jesus, home in Nazareth, unrolling the scroll and saying "today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing." Not someday. Not once he'd proven himself. Today.

That's the whole heart of Everyday Hope: God doesn't wait for us to be finished, credentialed, or "arrived" before he uses us. He uses ordinary, unfinished people — like Elijah's widow in Zarephath, like Naaman the outsider, like a hometown kid nobody expected much from — to bring good news to the people around them.

Labor Day Weekend — but are we actually resting?

More and more the world is telling us that "tired" has started to feel like a permanent setting. Not just physically tired — tired in our souls. Worn down. Running on fumes even on a long weekend. Jesus always has something more for us no matter how we feel. He always has an invitation to real rest.
