Verse By Verse Ministry International teaches entire books of the Bible, and our studies explain carefully and clearly the text of scripture without being distracted by discussions of popular culture, politics, or denominational disputes. Our teaching schedule doesn't vary with the seasons or the holidays. Week after week, we endeavor to teach what God's word says, eventually intending to teach all 66 books of the Bible.

📖 STAFF PICKS: What Are VBVMI Staff Studying? 📖

We asked our staff to share their favorite VBVMI teachings, study advice, and a little about how they came to the ministry.

Next up: Caitlin Ryznar!

❤️ How did you find VBVMI?
My sister and brother-in-law encouraged my husband and me to receive marriage counseling through Pastor Steve. It saved our marriage.

📖 #1 Teaching: GENESIS
I love learning how God created everything with a purpose. Pastor Steve answers so many questions about Creation with clarity and, most importantly, supports it with Scripture.

🔥 #2 Teaching: ANY GOSPEL
I love seeing the eyewitness accounts of Jesus and how they line up! And learning about Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.

🔎 Best Study Tip:
Don't be afraid to ask questions. Seek the how and why as you study Scripture.

❤️ Life Advice:
Listen to Bible lessons in the car with your kids. They WILL listen—and they'll ask questions!

🎯 Life Goal:
Read the Bible from front to back and continue growing in Christ!

🌿 STOP. LOOK AROUND. REMEMBER WHO MADE IT ALL.

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we can forget to simply stop and acknowledge our Creator.

The breath in your lungs.

The sky above you.

The ground beneath your feet.

The beauty of creation surrounding you.

None of it is ordinary when you remember WHO made it.

“He made heaven and earth,
The sea and all that is in them;
Who keeps faith forever.”
— Psalm 146:6

The God who created the heavens and the earth is the same God who stands with you today.

When life feels overwhelming—He is faithful.
When the storm comes—He is faithful.

When everything around you changes—He remains faithful.

Take a moment today to notice the small things. Look at His creation.

Remember the breath He has given you.
🙌 And PRAISE HIM.

The Creator of heaven and earth is worthy of our attention, our gratitude, and our praise.

Share with someone who may need encouragement.

🙌 Is “Hallelujah” Really the Highest Praise? 🙌
You've probably heard it said:

“Hallelujah is the highest form of praise!”

But does the Bible actually say that?

📖 Hallelujah simply means “Praise the Lord!” It comes from the Hebrew hallelu (“praise”) and Yah (a shortened form of YHWH).

It's a beautiful and powerful expression used throughout Scripture.

In Revelation 19:1–6, heaven erupts with “Hallelujah!” as the multitude praises God for His salvation, glory, power, righteous judgment, and reign.

But Scripture NEVER ranks “hallelujah” as the highest form of praise.

🔥 In fact, heavenly beings continually cry: “HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is the LORD.” — Isaiah 6:3; Revelation 4:8

True worship isn't determined by finding the perfect word.

It's demonstrated through:

🙏 Praise
❤️ Gratitude
📖 Obedience
🙌 Reverence
👣 A life devoted to God

True worship isn't just something you SAY. It's how you LIVE before the One you worship.

📖 We Press On. ✝️

Our founder, Pastor Stephen Armstrong, left us with an incredible library of Bible teaching to continue sharing with the world.

But he also shared something equally important—the tools and resources he trusted to study God's Word for himself.

At VBVMI, our goal isn't simply to give you another teaching to listen to.

We want to equip you to become a lifelong student of Scripture so that you can teach, disciple, and share what you have learned with others.

Pastor Stephen desired for VBVMI to continue growing and fulfilling its original mission—with or without him:

📖 Study God's Word.
🎓 Equip believers.
🤝 Disciple others.
🌎 Take verse-by-verse Bible teaching to the world.

Our mission continues still today! We press on! 🙌

We asked our staff to share their favorite VBVMI teachings, study advice, and a little about how they came to the ministry.

Next up: Erica Carey!

❤️ How did you find VBVMI?
My husband, Tom, kept telling me about what he was learning in Revelation. It sounded so interesting that I started listening for myself!

📖 #1 Teaching: HEBREWS
We studied Hebrews with our home group, and it was great for establishing a strong foundation for understanding theology and renewing our faith.

🔥 #2 Teaching: GENESIS
I love seeing all the pictures of Jesus throughout Genesis!

🔎 Study Tip:
Don't be afraid to listen to a lesson multiple times. Sometimes you catch something completely new the second or third time through.

📚 Advice:
Share what you're learning with your kids—you might be surprised by how interested they are!

🎯 Life Goal:
To have studied the whole Bible.

⏳ “Coming of the Lord” vs. “Day of the Lord” — Same Thing or Not? ⏳

Not at all, according to 2 Thessalonians 2.

The believers in Thessalonica were afraid they had missed the coming of Christ (rapture) and their gathering to Him and were already experiencing the Day of the Lord.

Paul tells them they were wrong.

2 Thessalonians 2:1–2 distinguishes:

✝️ The Coming of the Lord & our gathering to Him — Christ gathering His Church.

🔥 The Day of the Lord — the coming period of God’s judgment associated with the Tribulation.

Paul explains that certain events must accompany the Day of the Lord, including the apostasy and the revealing of the man of lawlessness.

The Thessalonians weren't living in the Tribulation—and neither are we!

The 7-year Tribulation has not happened yet.

Today, some Bible scholars, churches, and religions teach that we are already living in the Tribulation.

Yes, there is terrible suffering in the world, but suffering does not automatically equal the Tribulation described in Scripture.

Paul gave the Thessalonians specific markers so they wouldn't be deceived—and Scripture gives us those same markers today.

God gave us prophecy so we don't have to guess where we are in His timeline.

📖 Know the Word.
👀 Watch carefully.
✝️ Be ready for Christ.

Revelation 4C.

⛓️ Is ADDICTION a DISEASE? ⛓️
While the world often approaches addiction through a clinical lens, Scripture addresses the deeper spiritual problem: bo***ge to sin.

📖 James 1:14–15 tells us that temptation begins with our own desires. When those desires are entertained and acted upon, they give birth to sin—and sin ultimately brings death.
Addiction is one picture of this bo***ge. The desire for pleasure, relief, or escape can repeatedly draw a person back into the very thing controlling them.

But for the believer, there is hope.
📖 1 Corinthians 10:13 promises that God provides a way of escape from temptation.

For the unbeliever, even sobriety cannot solve the greatest problem—the bo***ge of sin itself. This is why the Gospel must remain central when helping someone struggling with addiction.
📖 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 6:23
The ultimate answer isn't simply behavior modification. It's new life in Christ.
Through the Holy Spirit, obedience to God's Word, and taking our thoughts captive to Christ, believers can fight temptation and pursue freedom from the sin that entangles them.

✝️ Christ doesn't merely change behavior. He makes us new.
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
