DEADLINE: August 14, 2026, at 5 p.m.
disABILITYsa is helping gather input on aging in San Antonio.

If you are 60 years of age or older, live in San Antonio, and care about aging with dignity and access in our city, YOUR input matters. Completing the Aging in San Antonio survey helps inform how programs and services consider people with disabilities and older adults.

By taking part and sharing the survey link, you support our work to advance the considerations of people with disabilities and older adults and to move San Antonio toward inclusive, age‑friendly, disability‑forward systems and planning.

Aging in SA – Virtual Town Hall is coming up on August 11, 2026 at 2:00 PM (Central Time). This online focus group invites people who are 60 years of age or older and live in San Antonio to share experiences and opinions about aging in our city.

If you were born before 1967, you can join a 60–90 minute group discussion on Zoom. You may answer or skip any question, and participation is completely voluntary.

Conversations like this help shape how our community plans for aging, accessibility, and inclusion over time. When older adults share their voice, it informs systems change that benefits people with disabilities and the broader community. We encourage eligible community members to register and take part.

Today is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, and we’re celebrating a San Antonio business that is disability‑first and community‑built: The Mermaid Cafe.

Founded by Leah Meyer and her family, The Mermaid Café is designed around hiring people with disabilities, with every role from baristas to bakers built to support inclusion and access. The café also serves chocolate chip cookies and other house‑made baked goods, making it a great place to celebrate the day with purpose.

If you’re looking for a local way to mark the day, consider making a plan to visit, sharing their story, or supporting disability‑owned and disability‑forward businesses that keep people with disabilities at the center of community life.

The Mermaid Cafe is a disabilities-first, 100% gluten-free coffee shop in San Antonio, TX. Founded by Leah Meyer, we employ people with disabilities while serving elevated coffee, baked goods, and eats. Open Tues-Sat 8AM-4PM.
