Marci Marie is a nationally recognized advocate, filmmaker, and storyteller whose work bridges the realms of art and activism. She utilizes social media and digital storytelling to amplify the voices of those directly impacted, strengthen community power, and develop strategies that connect grassroots leadership to national reform efforts.
A survivor of ten years in a Texas prison, Marci channels her lived experience into authentic storytelling and systemic change. She is a core member of the Lioness Justice Impacted Women’s Alliance, leading the movement in Texas for currently and formerly incarcerated women and gender-expansive people. Marci also serves as the Social and Digital Media Coordinator for the Formerly Incarcerated, Convicted People & Families Movement (FICPFM), where she helps shape national messaging, campaigns, and digital strategy that center the leadership of directly impacted people.
She serves on the board of The Second Chancer Foundation and on the Advisory Council for the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (NRCAT). In addition, she co-hosts On the Rec Yard: Women’s Prison Podcast, is a 2025 Represent Justice Ambassador, and a Visions After Violence Fellow.
Her debut narrative short, Whispers Behind Bars, explores the generational impact of incarceration and maternal resilience, exemplifying her commitment to blending narrative film, oral history, and advocacy. With nearly 300,000 followers on TikTok and a strong presence across multiple platforms, Marci leverages digital media to educate, mobilize, and inspire action for justice-impacted communities.
