Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 Marine Gunner Association Annual Dinner.
First and foremost, thank you to our members. Our active duty Marine Gunners represent the future of this organization, and we are equally grateful for the continued support of our current members, lifetime members, and associate members who keep this community strong.
A tremendous thank you to our sponsors and industry partners. Your support makes events like this possible and allows the Marine Gunner Association to continue investing in our members, our community, and the legacy of the Marine Gunner.
We are also grateful to the families, guests, and friends who joined us and continue to support the Marines and Marine Gunners in their lives.
We also pause to remember the Marine Gunners we have lost and the loved ones who carry their legacy forward. Their service, sacrifice, and impact remain part of who we are and why this community matters. To their families and friends, please know you remain in our thoughts and prayers, and we hold you close in spirit with enduring respect, gratitude, and sympathy.

Today, we honor the fathers of the Marine Gunner community—men who exemplify leadership, commitment, and selfless service both in uniform and at home.
Whether serving as mentors, role models, providers, or protectors, Marine Gunner dads continue to shape the next generation through their strength, integrity, and unwavering dedication to family.
From all of us at the Marine Gunner Association, thank you for the sacrifices you make and the example you set every day.

The Marine Gunner Association mourns the passing of Retired Marine Gunner John Whiting, who passed away this week in San Diego, California.

Throughout his career, John devoted himself to serving Marines and supporting those around him. From his time with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, to his service as the TTECG “Coyote” Gunner supporting service-level training, and in retirement, through his work at MCTOG, John consistently poured his heart into helping others. No matter the assignment, he approached it with dedication, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the Marines and organizations he served.

Those who knew John best will remember that while he earned the nickname “Angry John,” there was nothing angry about his willingness to help others. Time and again, he bent over backwards to support fellow Marines, Marine Gunners, and friends whenever they needed him. Behind the nickname was a man with a tremendous heart, a fierce sense of loyalty, and an enduring commitment to service.

John left his mark on every organization he served. He was a trusted Marine, a respected Gunner, a mentor, a teammate, and a friend. He gave everything he had to the profession and to the people around him, leaving each place better than he found it.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Trina, their family, and all who had the privilege of knowing John.

Fair winds and following seas, Angry John.
