Among The Broken developed out of the topic and research for a thesis paper during Miguel's undergraduate studies. The concept behind Among The Broken: We are humanity serving humanity. We had 15 receipients of the Among The Broken Rebel with a Heart Scholarship from 4 high schools in SAISD: Jefferson, Edison, Lanier and Travis Early College. We want to thank Father Eric for use of St Agnes Catholic Church Parish Hall to host this ceremony. Rebel with a Heart can be defined as any person who takes a stand with the marginalized, the outcast and the neglected much like Christ.

Thank you to all of our volunteers for helping today! We had a few new volunteers. Aaron Coronado, Saimar Guzman Gary Mitchell, Ember Iverson, and Faith Iverson. It was an amazing event, and I feel like we say that all the time, but when we ran out of food, a new group popped up, and the food continued. Thank you to all that donated clothes and blankets Frank & Diane, Vanessa & Desmond, Rebecca, Tracy, Elvira, Melissa, Sandra, Alyssa and Paige. We handed out pizza, fruit, packaged snacks, water, and hot chocolate.
