Well… that wasn’t exactly the trail preview we planned. LOL

A big THANK YOU to everyone who rolled with our Plan B trail-closure road route at today’s Recharge Run Preview! We really appreciate all the runners who showed up ready to have some fun no matter where we sent you.

From the very first FoGC Recharge Run to this year’s 13th, MBS Yoga has been part of race morning — leading our pre-race yoga-inspired stretch and getting hundreds of runners loosened up before we send them out onto the trails of Government Canyon State Natural Area - Texas Parks and Wildlife

Dino Doug would like you know that the Recharge Run price goes up tonight (9/30) at Midnight. So you should register before Midnight. Not after. Because after Midnight it costs more. (Facts.)

Seriously, though — the Recharge Run is the Friends of Government Canyon’s annual fundraiser, and every registration helps support the work they do for the place we love to run, hike, explore and protect.

EVERYBODY STAY CALM. HANDS WHERE DOUG CAN SEE THEM. 🦕

Well, crap. Doug found out about the Recharge Run Public Preview.

As you can see, everyone handled the situation beautifully. Hands up. No sudden movements.

Now that we have your attention… come play with us Sunday, October 4 at Government Canyon! This almost FREE* morning is your chance to preview the Recharge Run trails AND hang out with a whole bunch of folks who love running them.

7:30AM: iRun Texas rolls in with Merrell demo shoes to try on the trails. Mingle, grab some shoes and prepare yourself.

8:00AM: RUN! San Antonio RoadRunners will be out guiding and encouraging runners while Alamo City Trail Runners has the trails marked so you know where you’re going. (Bob & Doug’s directions cannot be trusted.)

9:00AM: ACTR will have tacos and ice-cold Propel Fitness Water waiting for you.

10:30AM: Giveaways & raffles!

We’ll wrap it all up by 11AM.

Bob is celebrating the holiday by stopping to smell the flowers at Government Canyon. Literally. Those little purple beauties are snapdragon vine, a Texas native that attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, and native bees.

Bob calls this botanical research. Doug calls it way too much labor and is currently napping somewhere off camera.

Registration for the 13th Annual Friends of Government Canyon Recharge Run - 2026 opens Sunday, February 1st at 6:00 AM, and trust us—you’ll want to set that alarm clock like a vigilant velociraptor. ⏰🦕

📅 Race Day: Saturday, November 7
📍 Location: the wildly beautiful trails of Government Canyon State Natural Area
🏃‍♀️ Distances: 15K & 8K trail goodness
👥 Cap: 300 runners ONLY (when it’s gone, it’s gone… extinction-level event)
