Alamo Archaeology Church Preservation update!

Excavations continued last week at the Alamo Church in EUs 72, 90, and 100. A concrete beam extends across the entire Unit 72, as well as several utility conduits and old tree roots. Even with the previous impacts, archaeologists recovered several artifact types such as metal fragments, glass shards, and European-style ceramics. Read more here: https://bit.ly/4uqfbE0

Don't miss the Texas Camel Corps at the Alamo on Saturday, June 20th from 9 am to noon! ๐Ÿซ

For a brief time in the 1850โ€™s, the U.S. Army experimented with using camels. Camels had key advantages when compared to horses and mules, like being able to traverse areas with severe heat while using very little water. During this brief experiment, camels were used at the Alamo during the time that it was a U.S. Army outpost in the 1850โ€™s.

๐ŸŒŸ Calling all Young Texans for the Young Texans Tour! ๐ŸŒŸ

Led by expert Alamo tour guides and living historians, young guests will step back in time to discover what life was like for the brave Alamo Defenders and the families who lived here when it served as a Spanish mission.

Kiddos will experience a hands-on musket drill, receive an official muster certificate scroll, and families will gain access to the Alamo Exhibit and Surrounded! The Alamo Augmented Experience.

Celebrate Independence Day at the Alamo with a variety of demonstrations and programs throughout the day on July 4th! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

The Alamo's Living History team will dress in period clothing and offer free, family-friendly activities including a patriotic flag project, a children's drill-and-march lesson, and a battle drum program. Additionally, our popular daily musket firing demonstration will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Plaza de Valero
