Keeping Irish History and Culture Alive in South Texas since 1966 What is the Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas?

Formed in October 1966, the Society was founded to "involve persons of Irish nationality or heritage to do honor to the land of their forefathers." Our Society is Non-Sectarian, Charitable, Cultural, Civic, Educational, Patriotic, and Social. Some of our goals include the appreciation of the cultural achievements of Ireland and Irish-American history here in Texas, the preservation of the historical "Irish Flats" in San Antonio, and the development of Irish cultural programs to include music, art, literature and theatre. In addition to the many social and business functions we arrange throughout the year, we are also the founder and co-sponsor of the annual St. Patrick's Day River Parade in downtown San Antonio.
