Growing up comes with challenges, including navigating school and friendships and, in today’s world, managing social media and online pressures. These experiences can affect a child’s mental and emotional well-being, making access to the right support more important than ever.

Introducing System of Care, The Health Collaborative’s newest program focused on supporting the behavioral and mental wellness needs of children, youth, and families in our community.

Through collaboration with families and community partners, System of Care helps connect children and youth with resources and coordinated support tailored to their needs.

**Want to learn more?** Follow The Health Collaborative for updates on the program and resources available to families in our community.

Last Friday, we attended the annual CHRISTUS Blessing of the Hands, a special ceremony honoring the hands and hearts of healthcare workers and others dedicated to caring for our community.

We joined this year’s CHRISTUS Health Impact Grant honorees, whose initiatives are supported by the grant to improve community health and well-being by addressing local needs and the social and environmental factors that affect health, as identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment.

Our System of Care team spent yesterday at the 7th Annual Domestic Violence Symposium, learning from professionals and community partners who work to support those affected by domestic violence.

Earlier this year, The Health Collaborative recently launched our System of Care program to help meet the behavioral and mental wellness needs of children, youth, and families in our community.

The symposium gave our team the opportunity to better understand how trauma from domestic violence can affect mental and emotional well-being and how we can better support the families we serve.

For generations, Southwest Side communities between I-35 South and Highway 90 West have lived, worked, and raised their families alongside recycling facilities, manufacturing industries, railways, and other potential sources of air pollution. These neighborhoods are home to many communities of color and low-income families. While various studies have been conducted over the years, information about the environmental conditions affecting these communities has not always made its way back to the people who live there.

Thanks to a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and in partnership with CiNow, we are launching a new seven-month air quality study focused on putting that information back in the hands of the community.

Last night, we presented the study and opened the floor for community members to share their experiences, concerns about air quality and quality of life in their neighborhoods, and their thoughts on what transparency and accountability should look like from the organizations, such as ours, that serve them, as well as from local government and community leaders.

There are several ways to participate in the study, even if you don't live on the Southwest Side. Reach out to learn more about the study and how you can be involved.
