From a Park Bench to a Sober House Manager: William’s Story

William’s journey is a powerful example of what can happen when someone is met with dignity, connection, and the right resources at the right time.

When William first connected with Corazon, he was experiencing homelessness and needed help recovering his ID; a critical step toward accessing housing and rebuilding his life. With support from Corazon, William was able to recover his ID and enter Starlite, beginning a new chapter in his recovery.

Now, nearly two years sober, William is giving back by managing a sober living home and helping others on their own journeys toward stability.

Recently, our team connected with a house manager at Mastermind about another client, only to discover that the manager was William.

William reflected on his journey:

“I went from sleeping on a park bench to eating at Corazon to now managing a sober house.”

His story is a reminder that a single connection can be the beginning of lasting transformation—and that today's client can become tomorrow's advocate, leader, and source of support for someone else.
