Question: what’s the easiest way to teach someone how to hear God?
Think about two sides to a coin or two hands:
1. The actual practice (& all it takes is practice!)
2. The checking (look at root & fruit)
The Practice:
1. Breathe
2. Notice what you notice (this is meta cognition, the highest form of intelligence, and you can practice it! Think abt what you are thinking about).
3. Ask Jesus a curious question
*repeat steps 1-3 and now you’re in a two-way conversation with God!
The checking:
Does what you think God might be saying to you come from a place of love and life? What’s the root and what’s the fruit? Where is it coming from and if you listened, what would it produce? If the answer is judgement, fear, condemnation, insecurity, isolation…that’s not God. If the answer is life, love, conviction that brings freedom, kindness, mercy, connection, truth, insight, hope, wisdom, peace… then that sounds like God!
