It is with heavy hearts that the HCA de SA Familia honors and remembers our dear friends, Carlos and Jennifer Mugica.

Carlos was a tremendous advocate for our association and a true champion of collaboration. Through his involvement with Rey Feo and countless community initiatives, he always made sure HCA de SA had a seat at the table because he believed that when organizations work together, we can make a greater impact on the communities we serve.

This tragic loss has left us heartbroken. Yet, we are grateful for the time we had with Carlos and Jennifer and for the lasting legacy they leave behind. Their kindness, generosity, and dedication to serving others touched countless lives throughout our community.

Anyone who knew Carlos knew his infectious smile, warm spirit, and incredible ability to make people laugh. He had a way of bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome.

We will forever cherish his friendship and remember the many contributions he made to our association and our community.

Please keep the Mugica family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

May Carlos and Jennifer Mugica rest in peace. Their memories and impact will live on in the
hearts of all who knew them.💚🕊️🙏

Who Are You?
I’m Eddie Mata and I am a Senior Project Manager with Joeris General Contractors. This is my first year on the board.

Why did You Join the board?
I was motivated to join HCA because I believe in empowering Hispanic contractors in the construction industry. I see this as an opportunity to be involved in the industry and strengthen the construction community in San Antonio while creating new and long-lasting relationships.

I’d have to say Slash in his prime with Guns and Roses.

My name is Jon-Michael Vincent Paul, and I’m from Lake Travis, Texas. I am a Project Manager at Central Builders, and I have been a board member since 2024.

Why did You Join the board?
I joined HCA de SA to be an asset to the Board of Directors and help create opportunities for growth and success within our membership. I wanted to be part of the Board because of its diversity and the strong family-oriented culture that makes this organization so unique.

Opportunities and support are plentiful for women interested in pursuing careers in construction, says a board member of the Hispanic Contractors Association de SA (HCA), and it’s why the organization has created a student chapter to encourage more women and others to enter the industry and enjoy meaningful and well-paying jobs.

“The student chapter will focus on workforce development,” said HCA Board Member Stephanie Alvarado, who is also business development coordinator for SpawGlass. “We’re helping build the next generation of construction professionals, such as contractors, project managers, business owners, and estimators. Our long-term goal is to strengthen the regional workforce and let women know about exciting careers in construction.”
