Small modeling decisions add up to big credibility, and how you handle a missing refrigerator is one of them.

It comes up all the time: the final inspection is done, but the fridge isn't in yet. The right move isn't to estimate or borrow a value from another project. Standard 301 is clear, when no refrigerator is installed, the Rated Home uses the same bedroom-based value as the Reference Home, so ratings stay consistent and defensible. When an appliance is installed, its documented energy use is what counts.

Getting the details right is what keeps every HERS® Index Score trustworthy.
