Congratulations to our August Team Member of the Month, Cindy! πŸŽ‰

Cindy leads with compassion, excellence and commitment every day. She takes the time to understand the needs of the children in our care, advocates for them, and makes sure they feel supported and cared for.

Thank you, Cindy, for the genuine love you show the children we serve and for your commitment to making Respite Care a better place for them. Your dedication makes a difference, and we’re grateful to have you on our team. πŸ’™

We cut the ribbon, and we couldn’t have done it without you! πŸŽ‰

Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke, supported, and celebrated with us as we opened the doors to the Family Empowerment Center and reopened the H-E-B House.

This milestone means more support, more safety, and more opportunities for children and families when they need it most.

To our partners, funders, community leaders, staff, families, and everyone who helped make this day possible: thank you for helping us build what comes next.

Strong communities are built by people who choose to invest in the lives of others.

As Gold Sponsors of this year’s Magic Garden Gala, Lacie and Joe Gorder are doing just that. Their generosity reflects a genuine commitment to children and families in our community, helping ensure that children with disabilities and complex medical needs have access to compassionate care, meaningful experiences, and a place to belong.

Lacie and Joe have been incredible partners to Respite Care, using their generosity to help strengthen the support system surrounding the children and families we serve. Their impact goes beyond a sponsorship. They are helping create a community where families feel supported and children have the opportunity to thrive.

Thank you, Lacie and Joe, for believing in our mission, investing in our community, and being true changemakers for children and families. We’re so grateful to have you in our corner. πŸ’™

The group chat is BUSY. πŸ‘€πŸ’¬ And for good reason.

On August 18, we’re celebrating the reopening of the H-E-B House and the ribbon cutting for our Family Empowerment Center. These spaces mean more room to care for children, more support for families, and greater capacity to be there when our community needs us most. πŸ’™

But this milestone belongs to more than just Respite Care. It’s the result of organizations across San Antonio coming together through the Safety Nest Network to make sure families have somewhere to turn during times of crisis. So yes, the group chat is excited. πŸ˜‚

Parents can't fully receive support if they're worried about who's caring for their child.

That's why Respite Care was honored to partner with the 5P Minus Society during its annual conference in San Antonio, providing care for approximately 80 children ages 0-12 while their families attended educational sessions, built lasting connections, and found encouragement from others walking a similar journey.

For families of children with Cri du Chat Syndrome, this conference is more than an event. It's a chance to learn, feel understood, and find a community that truly gets it. By caring for their children, we helped make those moments possible.

A special thank you to the 33+ teachers who generously volunteered their time, especially Marta Semidey, Isabel Andrade, and every educator whose compassion and dedication created a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for each child.

πŸ’™ Join us in thanking these incredible volunteers by leaving a message of appreciation in the comments.
