Nobles,

Just a reminder that the Shotgun Unit is dark in June. Our next stated meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 13th.

We have 11 Nobles competing at TSA on Friday, June 12th at Capital City Clays in Austin. For those competing that requested hotel accommodations at the Hilton Austin Southpark Hotel, Marilyn in the Alzafar front office booked your rooms and you can call her for your confirmation number. I called and received mine today. Also, I will pick up everyone's TSA registration packet at the hotel. If you're not staying at the Hilton, I'll bring your registration packet to the range Friday morning.

Nobles,

The next Shotgun Unit Stated Meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 11th. Our Chief Chef and 3rd Vice, Noble David Hadley will be preparing fried catfish, fries, tater tots and sausage for the meal served at 6:30. Please bring a side dish or dessert to pass.

I turned in the TSA registration forms and hotel requirements to Marilyn in the front office for all competitors. If you're not on the list and want to compete, contact Marilyn NLT Friday, May 8th to register and provide your hotel requirements. Alzafar Shrine will pay the $100 TSA registration fee and half of one night hotel stay for all competitors. The $200 shooting fee is separate and must be paid to our Treasurer, Noble Jerry Smitha. Ladies lunch is an additional $20. He will turn in the roster of Alzafar shooters to TSSSA and send in one check for the unit. The $200 shooting fee covers the shoot, carts, trophies, coffee and donuts prior to shooting and lunch after the shoot.

Below is the information for May's shoot. It will be held at Joshua Creek Ranch Shooting Range located at 132 Cravey Rd, Boerne, TX 78006. Be there at 0800 and start shooting at 0830.

100 Sporting Clays Targets, Shoot Between 8:30AM-11:30AM, Turn in Scorecards by 11:30AM, $10 Lunch Voucher, Top Shooter Awards.

Shotgun Unit Stated Meeting and TSA Shoot Info:

Nobles,

Our April Stated Meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 13th in the Shotgun Unit meeting room. Our Chief Chef, Noble David Hadley, will be serving pulled pork for the meal at 6:30. Please bring a side dish or dessert to pass. Ladies are invited to attend as always.

The TSA shoot is scheduled for Friday, June 12th at Capital City Clays, 8707 Lindell Lane, Austin, TX 78724. We will be shooting 100 sporting clays only. The cost of the shoot is $200 which includes range fees, a cart for each squad, breakfast (coffee and donuts) and lunch at the range, and trophies for the High Overall Shooter, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams in A, B, and C classes. The Alzafar Shrine office is requiring us to provide a list of shooters NLT 1 May as Alzafar Shrine will pay the $100 TSA registration fee (which is a separate fee from the cost of the shoot) for all competitors. Alzafar Shrine will also pay 50% of the cost of the hotel stay at the Austin Southpark Hotel for all competitors. The Alzafar Shrine office will also book the hotel reservations for all competitors. I've attached the TSA info and registration form. Please fill out the TSA registration form on the last page of the attachment, include the dates you need a hotel room, and bring it to the stated meeting on Monday. I will also have TSA registration forms at the stated meeting. If you cannot attend the stated meeting, please email me the TSA registration form (with your hotel dates) NLT 30 April.

Nobles,

Our March stated meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 9th in the Shotgun Unit meeting room. The TSA shoot is just around the corner in June so we only have 3 scheduled practices to prepare. The TSA shoot will be held in Austin (no official details yet, however) and will consist of 100 sporting clays, 50 s***t and 50 trap targets. I think we should concentrate on s***t and trap during our practices as I believe we can make up a bunch of birds on our competitors in these events. Let me know your thoughts at our meeting.

Our Chief Chef and 3rd Vice, Noble David Hadley will be grilling up BBQ chicken for the meal to be served at 6:30. Please bring a side dish or dessert to pass.

And congrats to all the Nobles that shot at Mid-Winter, and thanks to all the Ladies that attended and cheered us on. All 10 shooters came home with a trophy as we placed 3rd in the A-Team group and 1st in the B-Team group. And we can be in the running for the President's Cup at TSA since we'll be shooting all 3 disciplines, s***t, trap and sporting clays.

If you haven't paid your 2026 Shotgun Unit dues ($50), please bring your payment to the stated meeting or mail it to our Treasurer, Noble Jerry Smitha.

Had a great time with you all at Mid-Winter. Here's the group pictures we took before the shoot. And congratulations are in order as we all went home with an engraved bourbon glass as a trophy. Seems appropriate, lol. The following Alzafar shooters placed 3rd in the A Team group (Bill Willis, Jerry Smitha, Scott Brown, Leon LaLoge and Dave Jackson) and the following shooters placed 1st in the B Team group (Hoagy Elmendorf, Billy Paul, Terry Hoke, Chip Myre and Tom Hirte). I have Jerry and Leon's trophies that I'll bring to our March stated meeting. See you all there.
