Alzafar Shriners

Alzafar Shriners Our page is dedicated to the Shriners that work hard and play hard to support the Shriners Children's Hospitals and our Alzafar Hospital Transportation Fund.

What kind of organization attracts doctors, dentists, contractors, heads of state, movie stars, generals, clergymen, truck drivers and accountants? What is the Shrine? Someone might answer: "Oh yeah, Shriners are Master Masons who always have those parades with the wild costumes and funny little cars." Another might think of Shrine circuses and Shrine clowns. The fellow next to him might interject

, "No, Shriners are the guys who wear those funny hats - like upside-down red flowerpots - and have those big conventions." "I don't know about that," a passerby might add. "But I do know my little girl was born with club feet and now they are straight, and she can walk like anyone else, thanks to Shriners Hospitals for Children." "She can walk?" questions still another. "I thought the Shriners ran those fantastic burn hospitals. I've read stories about them saving kids with burns on 90 percent of their bodies." All those people are right. Each has experienced an aspect of Shrinedom. What they cannot experience, unless they are Shriners, is the camaraderie, deep friendships, good fellowship and great times shared by all Shriners. What they may not know is that all Shriners share a Masonic heritage: Each is a Master Mason, and possibly a 32° Mason in the Scottish Rite or a Knights Templar Mason in the York Rite. There are approximately 350,000 Shriners now. They gather in Shrine Centers, or chapters, throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Republic of Panama, the Philippines and Germany. There are 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children - 18 orthopaedic hospitals, three burn hospitals, and one hospital that provide orthopaedic, burn and spinal cord injury care. These hospitals have cured or substantially helped more than 750,000 children - at no cost to parent or child - since the first Shriners Hospital opened in 1922.

In addition to our NEMNUF Clowns bringing home the bling, Alzafar was also well represented by our Golf Unit who took 1st place overall and our very own Warren Studdard who took low net score.

Provost Guard also cleaned up with 3rd place in the D team division and 1st place in the C division as well as 3rd place in the C division by our C2 team. Robert Madison came home with the High Score new shooter (2 handed) with a score of 803. (900 is perfect score) and new shooter Scott Nunnely took High Score for 1 handed shooter.

Our Director's Staff took 1st place - Cold Stunt with their beer pong skit.

Our Brews Brothers took 2nd place in the British Brown Ale category.

Shotgun Unit took 2nd place overall.

Congratulations to all who competed and attended the 2026 TSA in Austin.

If you did not attend last night's Hospital Gala you missed a great time. About 175 Shriners, their families, friends and our sponsors were treated to great food, great bands, our live/silent auctions and we threw in the Spurs final for good measure. The Gala and the Spurs were both winners! But the biggest winners are our Shrine kids. It will be a few days before we have the final numbers, but it's looking very good to be near or over $60,000 net.

We had a tremendous crew of Nobles and volunteers who helped put this event together. I can't thank them enough for their hard work, support of the Shrine and dedication to our kids.

I also want to recognize our host, Blue Bonnet Palace and our major sponsors:
Joe Diliberto and the Canyon Lake Shrine Club - Diamond
Terry and Monette Littlepage and Family - Titanium
Mulholland Foundation and the Dailey Family Trust - Platinum
Steve and Hilde White, Zerimar Construction, Somerset Animal Clinic and SideAfects - Gold
Marty and Martha Bartlett, Ashley Smith and Dr. Dmitry Tuder and Altitude Audiology- Silver

Special thanks are due to Altrui Court #89, Ladies of the Oriental Shrine for their $4218 donation to Galveston Hospital and Noble Richard Wallace and the River City Big Band for their $3450 donation.

Our 2026 Hospital Gala is upon us! Doors open at 5:30PM tomorrow 5/30/2026 at the Blue Bonnet Palace in Schertz. We still have tickets available at the door for our event. They are $100 and include dinner, drink tickets, 2 live bands, live and silent auctions and a raffle. We have over 60 silent auction items, 8 live auction items including a seven-night stay in Costa Rica and a two-day off-shore fishing trip. This is our largest fundraiser for our kids. We hope you will join us!

Our auction crew is pictured taking a break after our final preparation day.

Many thanks to our donors, sponsors and volunteers! Without all of you this event could not happen!

The Camp Alzafar Men's Association and Ladies held an outstanding crawfish boil and pulled pork dinner at Camp Alzafar this evening! As a testament to the success of this event, they sold out of crawfish! 345 lbs of mud bugs gone in just over two hours.

Along with the food and desserts, we were entertained by "The Boys" who switched things up and became a country band. I didn't have that on my bingo card.

Our border Lodges and Clubs along with the San Antonio Scottish Rite were both well represented. Even five members of our Divan pitched in to help serve and clean up. Thank you Illustrious Sir Steve White, David Olivares, Dan Dailey, Steve Fisk and Illustrious Robert Norman II. Feedback from all involved was all positive.

🚨 Crawfish update, y’all! 🚨

Saturday’s boil is filling up FAST! We ordered 320 lbs of crawfish (enough for 120 plates) and the response has been AMAZING! 🦞🔥

At this point we only have about 45 plates left. If you’re planning on eating crawfish, please message us NOW so we can make sure we have enough for everyone. We pick up crawfish at 9 AM Friday!

There’s still time to order more…but we’ve gotta hustle! Don’t wait until all the mudbugs are gone 👀🦞
