In celebration of May Day, International Workers’ Day, we want to honor Vivian Chang of . It was such an honor to have Vivian to be on a panel we hosted in 2021 about Asian American union history and she has continued accomplishing tremendously challenging work!

In the labor movement, we know the real labor leaders understand the human struggles of staying in organizing work, especially mothers, and the importance of fighting for your own staff. Powerful labor leaders take moments like this and turn it around to give a shout out to the staff that make up an organization.

Thank you for putting this together! On May 1, as we celebrate International Workers’ Day, remember that Asian Americans have been integral in labor movements across the nation, even though at times, our roles have been forgotten or minimized as a footnote. True worker power doesn’t erase history. Remember who we are! 🙏🏽🩷✊🏽

was one of the organizations at the forefront of helping the families of the victims during the tragedy of the Atlanta shootings. It was helpful to belong to a national leaders table that brought many Asian American and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander organizations together, including small organizations like ours. Shortly after this, was vandalized. We were making statements after statements and showing up for people that called in with their concerns and what they were experiencing in San Antonio.

“March 16 marks the five year remembrance of the murder of eight people, including six Asian women massage workers, at spas in the Atlanta area. Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta wrote a solidarity letter to honor the victims, support their families, and call attention to the continued violence and exploitation faced by Asian women and immigrant and migrant massage workers.

We are calling on our partners, fellow organizations, and community members to sign onto this solidarity letter in remembrance and continued solidarity with our communities.

Reposting who was one of organizations at the forefront of helping the families of the victims from the Atlanta shootings. It made such a difference to process this tragic news while belonging to a national leaders table with Red Song Canary and other organizations at the time. May we never forget the lives taken and the intersections of racism, the dehumanization of Asian women, labor organizing, and workers rights.

“Today, five years ago, eight people lost their lives during the Atlanta Spa Shooting.

As we demand an end to racism, stigma, hate, violence, and policies that perpetuate these behaviors, we remember the names of the victims lost that day:

Daoyou Feng, 44
Hyun Jung Grant, 51
Suncha Kim, 69
Paul Andre Michels, 54
Soon Chung Park, 74
Xiaojie Tan, 49
Delaina Ashley Yaun, 33
Yong Ae Yue, 63

In our joint statement and call for an end to anti-Asian and anti-sex worker violence. Please take a moment to read the full statement using
