City of San Antonio to Open Overnight Resilience Hubs Beginning Saturday Night

SAN ANTONIO (January 22, 2026) – The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts a sharp drop in temperatures along with precipitation this weekend. The City of San Antonio will open six overnight Resilience Hubs starting on Saturday, January 24, which will remain open through noon on Monday, January 26 to provide residents with a safe and warm place to stay.

These locations will provide basic needs and supplies, shelter from the severe cold, access to power and device charging, and free wi-fi. Anyone arriving at these locations should bring clothes, supplies, and medicine. Kennels will be available for pets in a separate area at these locations.

OVERNIGHT RESILIENCE HUB LOCATIONS

Copernicus Community Center - 5003 Lord Road, 78220

Garza Community Center - 1450 Mira Vista, 78228

Miller’s Pond Community Center - 6175 Old Pearsall Road, 78242

Normoyle Community Center - 700 Culberson, 78225

Northeast Senior Center - 4135 Thousand Oaks, 78217

Southside Lions Senior Center - 3303 Pecan Valley Drive, 78210

DAYTIME PLACES TO STAY WARM

City libraries, community centers, and senior centers will serve as places to stay warm during their regular hours of operation.

For hours and locations, visit the City’s map of places to stay warm at SA.gov/ColdWeather or call 3-1-1 (210-207-6000) from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

VIA passengers may travel fare-free to or from these locations using VIA bus service or VIA Link (within the Link service zones). Riders should alert the bus operator when boarding; VIAtrans passengers should alert the reservation agent when booking a VIAtrans trip. Individuals with disabilities who require transportation should call 3-1-1 (210-207-6000) to arrange a ride.

UNSHELTERED NEIGHBORS

The City is working with community partners to reach unsheltered neighbors, share cold-weather alerts, and operate additional temporary overnight shelter space at the following locations:

City of San Antonio Bode Community Center - 901 Rigsby Ave, 78210

Communities Under the Bridge (CUB) - 724 Chestnut St., 78202

Corazon San Antonio - 504 Ave E, 78215

New Direction Church - 1139 Gembler, 78219 (everyone) & 1802 Guadalupe, 78207(female only)

Pets are welcome at all of the shelter locations. The Homeless Services and Strategy Street Outreach Team is offering transportation to shelters and distributing emergency blankets and supplies to neighbors who decline shelter.

The City’s Community Connections Hotline (210-207-1799) is operating 24 hours beginning at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24 to support our unhoused neighbors. Residents are encouraged to call the hotline for themselves or if they see someone in need. The hotline offers up-to-date information on available shelters, and will connect unsheltered neighbors with resources, including transportation and cold-weather supplies.

RESIDENT SAFETY ADVISORY

The City urges residents to stay home unless travel is necessary. If you must venture out, exercise caution, especially on potentially icy roadways.

EMERGENCY ALERTS

Visit SA.Gov/Alerts to make sure emergency alerts are turned on, stay informed about potential severe weather, and monitor any official evacuation or public safety alerts in San Antonio.
