Judge Melissa Saenz

Judge Melissa Saenz San Antonio native, SWHS Alum, first generation college student. Your Judge of Bexar County Court at Law No. 2.

I'm a San Antonio native and proud graduate of Southwest High School and the University of Texas at San Antonio. I'm a first-generation college student and come from a hard-working family. I prosecuted violent crimes for 12 years at the Bexar County District Attorney's Office. I ran for Judge because I saw our community struggling. I believe in a court system that embodies criminal justice reform

and restorative justice because I want to help our community succeed. Every case that comes in front of me is unique because every person is different. Investing in the individuals before me keeps our community safe and makes the likelihood of re-offending less likely.

The Mexican American Unity Council (MAUC) has served for close to 60 years! It was an honor to swear-in the 2026 MAUC Board of Directors and Officers. MAUC provides affordable housing and education opportunities to those in our community. They’ve been successful for so long because of the strong leaders they elect.

An efficient and effective criminal justice system requires a collaboration between Judges, Attorneys, Law Enforcement, and County Agencies. By working together, we can address issues and come up with positive solutions. As Judge, I serve as the County Court Laison for the Managed Assigned Counsel and sit on the SABA Criminal Court Committee. Today, I had the privilege of speaking to new attorneys about the policies and procedures in County Courts. The system gets better when people work together.

Primary Elections are in less than 30 days in Bexar County! Judicial elections are so important. If you, a friend, or a family member got arrested, you’d want a fair and reasonable judge handling your case. There’s still time to learn more about the judicial candidates on the ballot. Fair, efficient, respectful, and knowledgeable are crucial.

I had a great time volunteering with at its annual Holiday Market! Roy Maas provides resource and counseling services to low-income families in . They even provide life skills help for young adults who have aged out of foster care. Today, myself and other volunteers got to help parents/guardians pick out gifts for the kiddos in their life and then wrap them up so that they are ready for under the tree 🎄💖 🎅🏼
