Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. This scripture raises a question to me as I read it, am I in faith today? When I think of things in the past about what I did or did do, what I gave and did not give, or maybe what happen and didn’t happen in my past does it make me uneasy about today or tomorrow? Where is the faith in that? If it was something wrong or bad that you did and you are worrying about it than you haven’t put it under the blood of our Lord and savior but still holding on to it because he said he will make all things new, We need to put our faith in him and not in what we did in the past. Or, maybe it was a good thing you did for someone like giving a gift or doing a nice thing for someone and then they turn around and miss treat you or you never see a return on your gift? First question I ask myself when I feel this way is what is my motive for doing the good deed or giving the gift, if it isn’t to love and bless someone because it was in your heart to do so then it was just a selfish motive to get back something. In giving to be a blessing no matter what may return to you is living in the realm of being more blessed to give than to receive that our Lord spoke about. When I give to get it is a form of payment and not in line with giving at all just like work you give your time so the boss will give you money but if the boss doesn’t give you money you won’t give your time, that is not true giving. True giving is of faith, because not matter what happens I am going to give and I believe God will see all and will reward me if they never return anything back to me at all. Husbands and wives hold back their love from one another because they never feel it return to them so why bother? But that attitude will never end the standoff, how could it? All they are thinking about is themselves and so they will not give in until they receive, but if you give in faith you always have a chance of a return. Someone needs to make the 1st move towards the other before any change can happen. This is true in any relationship like mother daughter, brothers, or co-workers it is the same principle in all relationships. Look at our own relationship with God it is Him that came after us and gave just because He loved even if so many reject it even as most of us did for many years of our lives, yet He continued to love us. Again the Question is am I in faith today? Am I believing God for that situation, that relationship, and or that condition? Does worry, fear and despair arise at the thought of it? True faith is at peace and joyful and excited not about what was or is but what will be. Are you in faith today?
