Today, our club proudly hosted our 2nd Health Fair! 🦁💙 Together, we served over 50 families by distributing eyeglasses and pantry care packages, while also providing free blood pressure and glucose monitoring screenings for the community.

None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our club members, family, and friends who continue to believe in our mission through volunteer hours, donations, and service. Your support is what makes these impactful community events happen.

A very special thank you to Guadalupe Padron and the local clinic team (UBR) for helping operate our blood pressure and glucose monitoring station and caring for our community today.

And a shoutout to our sister club, Club de Leones Acuna, A.C., for their continued friendship and support across the border. 🇺🇸🇲🇽

Service like this reminds us that when communities come together, we can truly make a difference. ❤️

Before the health fair begins, the work starts behind the scenes. 💛

Our club members came together to build pantry care packages that will soon support families in the community. It takes teamwork, service, and a lot of heart to make events like this possible.

Our Club President (Martin Padrón Jr.), Service Chair (Ann Rene Islas), and their family took time this morning to go to San Fernando Cemetery to clean up some of the gravesites that needed a little love. They were able to rescue approximately 20 gravesites and leave flowers along the way. Unfortunately the rain had other plans and they had to cut their beautification project short.

This service activity coincides with the Lions Clubs International Environmental Week of Service.

We’re fortunate to have leadership that leads by example and serves with dedication!

Great weekend representing our club at the 2025–2026 District 2-A2 Convention in Eagle Pass! 🦁

Daytime was all about learning, alignment, and seeing the impact our district is making.

And the evening brought a banquet celebrating achievements and recognizing some truly outstanding Lions.

What a morning! 👟🦁Today, our club showed up strong at the Stride for Sight 5K hosted by the Lions Sight Research Foundation — and we couldn’t be more proud.

We had 20 registered members out there walking, running, and representing our club. That kind of turnout says everything about the heart of this club. 💛

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible shirt sponsors who helped us show up unified and proud:

- Marc Branham KW Realty
- Blanche Vara

Your support means the world and helps us continue making an impact.

And to our fellow Lions — thank you for showing up, bringing the energy, and making moments like this so special. This is what service looks like.

Let your service roar. 🦁💥

Small actions can create a big impact. ♻️💛

Today met with Gwen and Frank to collect two more boxes of plastic caps for our Caps For Hope campaign. Thank you both for continuing to support this project and for helping turn something simple into something meaningful.

Through Caps For Hope, the plastic caps we collect are sent to partners in Mexico where they are recycled. The funds generated from recycling these caps help subsidize chemotherapy treatments for children battling cancer.

It’s amazing how something as small as a plastic cap can travel across borders and help bring hope to families who need it most. 💛

Thank you again, Gwen and Frank, for your generosity and continued support! ♻️✨

If you’d like to support our Caps For Hope campaign, let us know — we’re happy to coordinate a time to meet and collect your plastic cap donations.

💛 Roaring with Compassion: Supporting Cancer Fighters in Our Community 💛

Over the last month, the San Antonio Bexar Necessities Lions Club has had the honor of providing $2,000 in assistance to three individuals in our community who are facing financial hardships due to cancer through the Roy Islas Memorial Fund.

We were able to personally drop off gift cards to two of the three recipients and aid with utility bills for one individual.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Lilian J., Cindy L., and Alex M. for allowing our club to be part of their journey and for giving us the opportunity to support them in a small way during such a difficult time. Your strength and courage inspire us, and we are grateful for the trust you placed in us.

The Roy Islas Memorial Fund was established to honor Roy Islas, the brother of our past club president, who passed away in 2022 after a battle with testicular cancer. Roy’s heartfelt wish was to help others facing the same financial barriers he experienced during his fight. Today, that wish continues to live on.

Being able to provide these gifts has been incredibly meaningful for the Islas family, as they see the seed money they donated grow and be used for its intended purpose through the work of the San Antonio Bexar Necessities Lions Club. Moments like these remind us why this fund exists; to offer financial relief so families can focus on what matters most: their fight and their healing.

Yesterday was a very special day for our club! ❤️

Alongside several dedicated club members, we completed our very first multi-cause international mission trip as a club, traveling to Villa Unión, Coahuila to host a community Health Fair in partnership with the local town clinic, Texas Lions Eyeglasses Recycling Center, and Club de Leones Acuna, A.C.

Together, we were able to serve more than 100 individuals from the community.

At the health fair, our club provided:
• Glucose testing
• Blood pressure monitoring
• Free eyeglasses
• Pantry packages for families

Thanks to the generosity of our partners at Club de Leones Acuña, every attendee also received a bag with cookies and toothpaste.

In total, our clubs worked together to deliver over $4,300 in services and essential goods—all provided completely free of charge to those who attended.

Moments like this remind us why we serve. When communities come together across borders, we can make a real and lasting impact.

We are incredibly grateful for the partnership, the volunteers who gave their time, and the community members who trusted us with their care.

Service truly has no borders. 🦁💛
