What a fantastic Toastmasters meeting today! 🎤✨

We were inspired by two incredible speakers—Barbara Merrill and Distinguished Toastmaster Amy Espinoza—who both brought insight, confidence, and energy to the room. It’s always amazing to see the growth and talent within our group!

We met online only today. Darla Peek was our Toastmaster of the Day with the theme “Drop Everything and Read”. Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) Day is a national literacy celebration on April 12th (author Beverly Cleary's birthday) that encourages all ages to pause their daily routines to read for pleasure for 30 minutes.
We had 3 prepared speeches and 5 Table Topics! The word of the day was “captivating” and it was a captivating meeting.

“Spring and New Opportunities” was our theme today! In Texas, the flowers are blooming. We bloom in Toastmasters by saying “yes” to the opportunities Toastmasters has to offer. Patricia Radley, DTM, spoke about why she joined Toastmasters but more importantly why she stayed. Ginny Shannon, DTM, demonstrated “Using Body Language” from the Better Speakers Series and Scott Avery gave an inspirational toast about his dad.

Today’s theme was opportunities. Distinguished Toastmaster Betty Puckett encouraged us to look for opportunities to grow and learn. Scott Maxwell led a fun Table Topic session where participants took an item out of a bag and gave a sales pitch for the item. DTM Amy Espinoza won table topics with her pitch to sale a stud finder to women looking for a man.

We just completed our Club Speech Contest. Angie Collier won International and Scott Avery won the Evaluation Contest. Becky Colby was our Test Speaker. Jeff Puckett was the Contest Chair. Barbara Merrill gave our Inspiration and Pledge.
