What an incredible testimony and milestone for Gilbert Galle! Today, we had the privilege of helping him obtain his medical records, Social Security card, and a form of identification from the police station—documents that were essential in helping us secure his birth certificate. Every step of the way, God was already working ahead of us, opening doors, providing favor, and making a way where there seemed to be obstacles. Gilbert was incredibly thankful to Mastermind Recovery for walking alongside him, encouraging him, and supporting him through each part of this process. This accomplishment represents more than paperwork—it represents dignity, hope, opportunity, and a new sense of possibility for his future.

At Mastermind Recovery, we are grateful that God allowed us to come alongside Gilbert during this important journey. His gratitude and perseverance were truly inspiring, and we are honored to have been part of helping him regain these important pieces of identification and documentation. We give all glory to God, who continues to guide our steps and gives us opportunities to demonstrate the love of Christ through compassion, service, and action. Grace Outreach 24 was a beautiful reminder of why we do this work. 🙏

Yesterday, Mastermind Recovery took to the streets to love on our community the way Christ calls us to with open hands and open hearts.

We came with food, the Word of God, and a simple message: you are seen, you are valued, and you are never beyond the reach of God's love.

To everyone who donated, prayed, and made this possible thank you. You were out there with us in spirit, and your generosity fed more than just bodies yesterday.

We'll keep showing up. That's what Mastermind Recovery is built on. đź’š

Transformation Tuesday: Cibi Perez 🌟

Cibi grew up in Crystal City, Texas, the oldest of three brothers, raised in a loving home by parents who were married 50 years. He was 21 and just starting college the first time he used co***ne.

What followed cost him nearly everything. Serious relationships, including his marriage and an engagement. The trust of his brothers and family, who eventually told him they had reached their limit. And the hardest loss of all the closeness he had with his daughter and her mother.

At 51, he decided enough was enough. He entered treatment with his daughter as his focus, but somewhere along the way the reason changed: he realized he had to do this for himself too. He wanted to live. He wanted to watch his daughter grow. He wanted the second half of his life clean and sober.

Nine months ago he came to Mastermind Recovery. It was his first time ever living in a sober home. Today he's the man the other guys in the house come to for advice. He's held consistent employment the whole way through. And though he was raised Catholic, it was here sitting under preaching at New Testament Christian Mission that his personal relationship with Christ finally began.

His advice to anyone still struggling:

"Do the inner-child work... But you also have to make the decision in your heart that you're done. I had to decide that I wanted to live."

Today those broken relationships are being restored, little by little. He isn't just surviving he's rebuilding.

A NOTE FROM MASTERMIND RECOVERY LEADERSHIP

Mastermind Recovery takes concerns about the treatment of residents seriously. Everyone who comes through our program deserves dignity, respect, and fairness. Out of respect for privacy, we do not publicly discuss the circumstances of current or former residents .

We are a faith-based organization, but faith is not required to be part of our program. No one is required to become a Christian or hold any religious belief to receive housing or support. Residents are required to attend recovery-related meetings, and those requirements can be met through AA, NA, SMART Recovery, or a church or Bible study of their choosing. Faith can be a powerful part of recovery for people who choose it. It remains a personal choice.

We maintain an open-door policy. Residents can submit grievance forms and house manager feedback forms at any time, not only during monthly feedback, and concerns are routed to leadership for review. Any current or former resident with a concern can also reach leadership directly at [email protected].

We do not tolerate bullying, retaliation, religious pressure, or favoritism. Whether a resident is Christian, follows another faith, or holds no religious belief, our expectation is that they are treated fairly. Structure and accountability matter in recovery housing, and so does respecting each person as an individual.

We are not a perfect organization. We welcome legitimate concerns and are committed to improving where we fall short, while continuing to provide a safe, structured environment for people rebuilding their lives.

THIS is what community looks like. 🌻

Today, we had the absolute blessing of welcoming teams from the Grand Hyatt San Antonio AND Hyatt Regency San Antonio to Faith House as they celebrated their Month of Service with our women and children.

And they didn’t just show up, they came ready to serve.
They custom built beautiful planters, planted flowers alongside our women and children, and made the sweetest memories with our kids by painting their little handprints right onto the planters. They turned out absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

But what meant the most wasn’t just what they built, it was the time, love, and attention they gave our women and children.

This is why community partnerships are so important to what we do at Mastermind Recovery. Recovery is about so much more than providing someone a bed. It’s about rebuilding lives, creating healthy memories, restoring dignity, and reminding women and their children that their community sees them and believes they are worth investing in.

To the incredible teams at Grand Hyatt San Antonio and Hyatt Regency San Antonio THANK YOU. Thank you for choosing to spend your Month of Service pouring into our families at Faith House. Every time we see those flowers growing and those precious little handprints, we’ll remember the people who took the time to come love on our community.

And to other businesses, organizations, churches, and individuals looking for a place to make an impact, we would LOVE for you to come alongside us.

We had the privilege of taking several of our clients to a job fair at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. It was an encouraging and productive day filled with opportunities, connections, and valuable resources. One of our clients secured an interview for the following day, while another received assistance with creating and organizing his résumé. We also gathered countless resources that will continue to benefit future clients entering the program. These accomplishments are important steps toward independence, stability, and long-term success. 🙌

At Mastermind Recovery, we are committed to working diligently alongside our clients to identify and break down every barrier standing in the way of their goals. Whether it’s employment, transportation, education, or building confidence, we believe every person deserves the support and opportunity to move forward. Happy Labor Day from all of us at Mastermind Recovery

Today the nation honors the work that keeps everything running. We want to honor a different kind of labor too.

The labor of waking up and choosing recovery again. The labor of walking into a job interview after years of closed doors. The labor of rebuilding a life one honest day at a time showing up, staying accountable, and doing the hard internal work nobody claps for.

We see your work. We're proud of you.

Another Step Toward Stability 🙏🏾✨

Today we went up and helped another client fill out his food stamps application. They're really short staffed right now, so the benefits weren't approved on the spot — but everything is in motion.

Hopefully within thirty days he'll get the call and have his food stamps loaded onto his card.

Progress doesn't always look like an instant win. Sometimes it looks like showing up, filling out the paperwork, and trusting God with the wait. The application is in, and that's a real step forward.

Praise God for every step, even the ones that take time. 🙏🏾✨

It marks an important step in Juanita’s ID recovery through Mastermind Recovery, we were able to obtain her Social Security card and birth certificate. Getting these key documents is a major milestone, and we’re grateful for the support that made it happen.

Juanita now has an appointment next week to finalize her ID. We’re hopeful for a smooth process from here, and we’ll continue to stay on top of every step to help her move forward with confidence. 🙏🏽✨
