In response to the Kerrville Floods last year, Girl with Grit partnered with Kerr County Community Coalition , Alamo Area Teen Su***de Prevention Coalition , and Communities in Schools San Antonio to bring su***de prevention training to flood impacted areas with intent. What we found was a need for community conversation and peer support surrounding su***de prevention and su***de loss. With that being said, we developed this “Living Room Chats” vision to fill a gap noted by Leah Westra of Kerr County Community Coalition and Blythe Zemel of Girl with Grit.

CHATS: PEER
CONVERSATIONS ON SU***DE LOSS AND PREVENTION, presented by Blythe Zemel Girl with Grit at the HCCADA Offices!
**This is A PEER group for discussion and exploration on su***de loss survivorship and prevention for Kerr County residents, not a clinical group.**
We will offer three sessions to begin with:
Monday, July 6
Monday, August 10
Monday, September 14

Girl with Grit has been a community partner with The Witte Museum and their Engineer It! event for three incredible years.

The Witte continues to be one of our favorite museums to collaborate with. Their vision as a museum is community centered, creative, educational, and they celebrate science, history, nature, the arts, and so much more on their BEAUTIFUL grounds.

The Witte is representative of all the things we love about our San Antonio community and our museums. We could not be happier to share their 100th anniversary with them on October 10th as a celebrated community partner. 🎉

Starting in 2027, Girl with Grit founder, Blythe Zemel, will be opening a private therapy practice in Texas affiliated with Girl with Grit. She will see clients in need of private therapeutic services, offer experiential groups, and teach psychoeducation courses related to project-based learning and confidence building. These sessions will be offered in-person and through telehealth.

I just wrapped up an amazing extra week on campus working with This incredible program teaches young girls how to use tools, plan and build projects, and explore STEM fields.

The crew of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls I spent the week with was full of grit and attitude, and I had such a great time working with them!”

Summer is heating up at the JWC, and we’re excited to bring even more hands-on learning opportunities to our students! 🔥

We’re thrilled to announce our next camp for students entering 5th–8th grade during the 2026–27 school year.

Get ready for Kids With Grit! In partnership with , the JWC is proud to host this incredible camp facilitated by .

Led by Blythe Zemel, founder of Girls With Grit, participants will gain valuable experience using real tools to build, create, and problem-solve through engaging, hands-on projects.

⚠️ Seating is limited, so be sure to mark your calendars! Registration opens this Monday at 8:00 a.m.
