Happening today!!
πŸ“£ Important Update

This Thursday, the National Su***de Hotline will remove the specialized option for LGBTQ+ callers.

We are deeply disappointed by this decision.

The change comes after Congress did not renew federal funding for the option. Since its launch in 2022, more than 1.3 million Americans have used the LGBTQ+ line, which was designed to connect callers with counselors specially trained to address issues impacting the q***r and transgender community.

Research shows again and again that different communities have different mental health needs and we know that LGBTQ+ youth face unique stressors, especially in today’s hostile climate. Removing tailored support sends a harmful message that their needs are not worth recognizing.

FYI:
πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Canada does NOT offer a su***de hotline for Americans. That rumor is false.

But here’s what is true:
πŸ“ž Trans Lifeline continues to offer peer-led, affirming support for both Americans and Canadians. Call 1-877-330-6366.

🌈 The Trevor Project remains a safe place for LGBTQ+ youth to find help at thetrevorproject.org or by calling 1-866-488-7386.

πŸ“±The LGBT National Help Center runs multiple phone lines for LGBTQ+ people with differing needs, each open from 2-11 p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday and 12-5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Operators do not call police or rescue services without callers’ consent, but will provide emergency numbers upon request. Their numbers are:

LGBT National Hotline: (888) 843-4564
LGBT National Youth Talkline: (800) 246-7743
LGBT National Senior Hotline: (888) 234-7243
LGBT National Coming Out Support Hotline: (888) 688-5428

As always, we stand with the LGBTQ+ community and want you to know you are loved and we will keep fighting for you. πŸ’•
