I have been relentless in demanding change around how families are notified when a catastrophic event occurs inside a jail. Families deserve prompt and dignified notification, not silence or, back channel. On August 6, 2026, our recommendation for a family notification policy was finally voted forward. It’s just a step, not the finish line. Real implementation will take continued pressure, coalition building, and public accountability. Families’ rights cannot wait. And yeah, I want to live to see this happen, to see families finally treated with the dignity they deserve. We keep going. We’re not done.
