We’ve had a great time spreading the word about all the fun we have in Cub Scouts! Pack 58 attended Meet the Teacher at multiple elementary schools to recruit new scouts and hosted a fun back to school party at Bulverde Community Park. We’d love for new families to come check us out! We are having an Open House next Tuesday, September 16, at Bulverde Methodist Church at 6:30 PM. We would love to see you there!

Before we took our nighttime zoo tour, our scouts and families learned about bats and echolocation. We played an echolocation game and learned a lot while having fun!

We love Roars & Snores! Our scouts and families had a GREAT time staying overnight at the San Antonio Zoo. We learned about conservation and protecting our wildlife, took a nighttime tour of the zoo, played games to teach us about echolocation, and met a Madagascar hissing cockroach and corn snake named Tomato. Our tour guides were absolutely wonderful and shared LOTS fun animal facts with us. We can’t wait to go back!

Pack 58 is loving summer adventures! We went on a guided hike in Honey Creek State Natural Area, fished, and grilled together. We learned about plant and animal life, experimented with acidity’s effects on limestone, and learned about making ink from oak galls (which was used to sign the Declaration of Independence)! So much fun in the Great Outdoors!

Pack 58 kicked off our summer activities with a trip to the fire station. We got to check out all the equipment, climb in the trucks, and use the fire hose! Everyone had a great time the the firefighters did such a great job making fire education fun for our scouts!

Last night, Pack 58 had our last awards ceremony of the school year and celebrated the end of the school. We had a blast eating lots of yummy food and celebrating all of our cubs’ amazing achievements! We’re looking forward to LOTS of fun summer activities! Next up, honoring our vets by putting flags gravesites at Fort Sam Houston for Memorial Day. In June, we’ll be visiting a fire station and have a hike/BBQ/fishing trip planned at Guadalupe State Park. Come join us!

We will have our final awards ceremony of the school year and our end of school year party on Tuesday, May 20th at 6:30pm in the Bulverde Methodist Church fellowship hall. We can’t wait to see everyone there!

Last weekend, Cub Scouts from Pack 58 attended an Alamo Area Council Cub Scout Fishing Day to earn their fishing adventure for their rank. The cubs had fun learning to tie a lure, bait a hook, and proper casting techniques. Great job scouts! 👏

Attention all new adult members of Scouting America.

🚨 New Required Training: Safeguarding Youth 🚨

Announced at the Scouting America National Annual Meeting in Orlando, the new Safeguarding Youth training is now live and mandatory for all registered adult volunteers. It is also a joining requirement for new adult members.

📚 Course Details:
🕒 Duration: ~90 minutes
🌐 Available in English and Spanish
💻 Access it through my.scouting.org
✅ Requirements: Complete all lessons + score 80% or higher on the final test

🔁 Annual Refresher:
After completing the full course once, a 15-minute refresher and retest is required each year to stay current.

⚠️ Transition from Previous YPT:
✔️ If you’ve already completed Youth Protection Training (YPT), your certification remains valid.
⏳ If you're currently taking YPT, you have less than one week to finish it. After that, it will no longer be available, and the new Safeguarding Youth training will be required.

UPDATE from Glen Pounder - If you took the prior YPT training, expiration is "One year from when the new training launched - at the latest. However - there is new material in the SYT which could genuinely save the life of a youth - inside or outside of Scouting."
