Strong volunteer networks are fundamental to meeting community needs. At BRIDGE, we’re committed to empowering the Texas progressive ecosystem to build community power. We continue to do that through education, resourcing, and trust-based funding, and we show up with our time as well. As a direct response to the identified need in our Collective, BRIDGE has contributed 18 hours across three organizations this year so far to support leaders in canvassing, data focus groups, and more.

Earlier this year on the Beyond Giving podcast with Zac Brown, our Executive Director, H. Drew Galloway told his story of what started his civic engagement journey, and how that led to the work BRIDGE does today to support other grassroots nonprofit leaders in Texas.

In our latest blog post, BRIDGE’s Executive Director H. Drew Galloway writes about resilient organizations:

“If we want a more just Texas, we cannot afford to overlook the organizations that are just getting started. Supporting these groups early does more than help them survive—it enables them to build strong operational foundations, develop confident, effective leadership, establish sustainable fundraising practices, and stay rooted in and accountable to their communities. In other words, it helps them become resilient.”
